I've converted a 4-hole tank to vapour using the brass bung/plate thing the gauge attaches to. It's quite easy coz it all gets done on the bench not at the cylinder.

You have to cut off the magnet and float mechanism from the inside face of the brass plate but that's dead easy with an angle grinder ...

On the subject of AFR though, 14.7:1 is richer than 15.4:1.. Also, I believe meters work on the principle of reading oxygen levels in the exhaust and therefore need to be calibrated for the fuel in use... A 30" tank would just (only just) fit by modding the chassis a little bit.

I think there's a standard(ish) size 45L tank that's about 28 x 12 (inches again sorry) which would be ideal.

Dave's tank was a bit too long so I'm still looking.

Yeah something like that would allow for lots of tweaking. The way I set up my old American stuff the mechanical advance curve is just three straight lines like this (ignore the dots):

OK thanks, I'm only using the LED driver outputs as logic l/h source at present so won't need transistors on them unless I get ideas to expand the functionality.

I just haven't had any time to try it on the motor yet but over Christmas should be a chance with a bit of luck.

Just to let you know - I've finished rigging it all up on a breadboard and it works fine. The 555 seems to interface with the stepper controller just nice and there's lots of speed control.

That's funny you still remember it. I've never messed with assembly code. Is there some sort of de-compiler for 6800 machine code ?
