cost of petrol 124
cost of lpg 64

yearly savings £321.81

i dont do many motorway miles as you can see,just work locally.lpg system was vauxhall fitted when i bought van so i dont have to include getting that paid back, doesnt seem much of a saving considering the ...

have a factory fitted lpg system on a astra van 02, after a full tank i get about 330 miles-then light on fuel gauge comes on-i continue to ignore this as obviously i have petrol as a back up-and finally the red light is flashing constantly and i then start bunny hopping and i know its time to hit ...

yeah your right-i wont go back to diesel-all my vans have been astras and last one was diesel-compared to petrol it was way superior mileage wise but yeah lpg is quite,cheap,and annoys the neighbours that i drive for half the cost they do :lol:

vauxhall astra needs a service..ESSEX

hi guys,
im looking for a lpg service on my factory fitted astra van 1.6,
live in essex..basildon area.

have phoned formula one and they will do it for £94,but i dont trust them to
change the oil let alone a full service.

also what price should i expect to roughly pay and whats involved in ...

intermitent red flashing light

filled up with full tank of gas so i know i wasnt low-but my red light was flashing and i was running on petrol for most if not all of my 30mile trip.
kept flicking the switch and occassionaly it would stay on gas and gauge would creep up to full..only when i put my foot down did it bunny hop like ...

i have the 60l donut tank on my astra van 1.6,
i fill up on £28 and it tends to give around 340miles before the red light is flashing like a hookers brothel..i like to empty it completely before i refill and this generally happens on a roundabout and it just stutters and wont pull away!! flick the ...

on my vauxhall astra van-you press the petrol button to start and just flick switch to go over to lpg-always start on petrol and onto lpg soon as car is started.

ok red light has finally kicked in-have done 346miles-so thats not bad i guess. worked it out at 30.45mpg..petrol was giving me 38.55mpg-have taken off the 20% for lpg performance.

ok quick maths question as my brain isnt in gear.

£20 @ todays pump prices gives me 161 miles on petrol and 192 ...

well when active_lad said £100 a year i thought wtf! -i guess i cant increase my mileage just to save money-i only do local driving and longest job i have in the week iis 28 miles there n back. probs dont pay for me to have dual fuel in that aspect-still i guess im saving the planet right ...

yup i will run it down till red light flashes and fill up and see what the tank takes.
last time it was empty i filled up with 51litres.
according to your stats i should get 340miles roughly. gauge is showing empty but redlight not flashing will ignore gauge-have currently done 270miles...also have ...

no ladders pjpj, dont tend to do much motorway driving-so if i get equivalent of diesel i will be very happy.
gonna keep driving n ignore the gauge and wait till red light starts flashing.
according to your stats that should be in 40 miles!

just rang my local lpg garage and he says the vauxhalls are renowed for incorrect gauges-so i will fill up tank again and see what i put in.
the fact that the red lpg light is not flashing and only the fuel gauge is saying out of gas points to the fact he is probs right--i should be getting about ...

well 18litres is 4 gallons so on petrol i was getting 40 mpg.
lpg is averaging 23mpg!!

nope i dont thrash it as i have only had it 2 weeks and still drive it carefully.
summin aint right obviously..

my old r reg diesel van got 50 odd mpg.

lpg mileage is way less than expected

i put 51litres into my astra van 1.6, the return was 260miles!
this is no where near as good as diesel, and if my sums are right even petrol is better.

18litres of petrol i was doing 160 miles.

have i done my maths wrong or does my lpg need a good service

ok,
problem was as you suggested,i took it to ROCHFORD,ESSEX where lpg engineer alan(think he posts on this forum) gave it a good few whacks with rubber mallet,went to fill up and hey presto jobs a good un.

the valve would of cost £10 so its no big deal anyway-just glad i got the lpg working..a ...

hi thanks for reply,
am taking it to a lpg engineer today to see what the problem is-if its a few good wacks then i drive out with some dosh in my pocket-if a new tank-i shall cry in my beer...oh hang on-i wont be able to afford beer :?
