Essex to Kegworth - Where LPG

Due to do a run upto Kegworth near Nottingham East Midlands airport. Therefore would like some feedback on where I can some LPG on the route up M11, A1M, B676, A6006 and finally Kegworth.

Have a look at your proposed route on here http://www.lpgmap.co.uk/map.php you can even get a POI download for your satnav and it includes the Flogas/Calor/non-forecourt sources. There's a number of places near me (Peterborough) on the A1(M) and A1 but not cheap. The Peterborough services does gas, as does the BP about a mile further North. Then there's the station just north of the A47 junction before you get to RAF Wittering. I suspect there'll be a few places along your route around the Oakham, Melton Mowbray area too but I've never looked as that is within a tankfull range of me.

Your route is the way I go too, only it's A606 from the A1 through Oakham and Melton before you get on the A6006. Don't use the B676 as it takes you right into Loughborough.

Indeed it is, I've never been there, but it's on the OP's route, which was what he was after. And it might be a case of any port in a storm

still cheaper tna the 66-69 ppl variation at all bp, shell forcourts, if you go along belton road west in loughborough, got a mec dealership, vauhall dealership citroen and toyota dealership, there is also an aurtogas trader selling fuel arround 55p, he can then turn right onto a6 and be in kegworth in under 10 mins

expensive? you wanna live in essex-cheapest i can get is 63.9!

Go back? Never been there never will (unless I find myself driving a truck or tractor which is the only place a diesel engine belongs). Until LPG gets within a few pence of petrol, it'll still be cheaper to use. I've just done my regular run to the South of France and back towing a trailer with a gross weight of about 3 tonnes. Using my recently acquired 4.2 LSE Range Rover on gas my cost on the run down was £259 in fuel compared with £358 in January using a 3 litre Ford Explorer on petrol. Considering the the mpg figure for the Explorer (towing around 17-18mpg) was better than the Rangie (towing around 12mpg), that's quite a saving. The guy I bought the Rangie from has replaced it with a later 2.5 DSE P38 and reckons it is more expensive to run that the older, larger engined one was on gas. He's also complaining bitterly that the new one is so much slower!

I told him, that's diesels for you, noisy, smelly and slow with horrible driving dynamics.......

yeah your right-i wont go back to diesel-all my vans have been astras and last one was diesel-compared to petrol it was way superior mileage wise but yeah lpg is quite,cheap,and annoys the neighbours that i drive for half the cost they do
