Hi and happy new year,I have a Bedford cf 2.3 2.3petrol thinking of lpg kit but what sort of kit as I have a carberetta and wish to have petrol also,anthor thing is I have a mechanical fuel pump so how do I stop flow of petrol when using lpg then back to petrol when I want and most of all where do I get such a kit without being ripped off accompanied by a lot of waffle as I don't understand it all as yet,can anyone help point me in the right direction please

A Bedford CF, blimey, there's a blast from the past. You'll need a single point kit that can work with a carb (assuming you can still get a mixer that will fit on your carb) so will have a 3 position switch, petrol, petrol but pump off to drain the carb float chamber and gas. A mechanical pump will only supply fuel when it is needed so a solenoid operated valve in the output will shut off the fuel flow. Or you can remove the mechanical pump, blank the hole in the block and fit an electric one (one designed to work with a carb, not a fuel injection one, the pressure will be far too high). Normally a carb system would run open loop, so you set it up to run right at idle and under load and leave it. Downside to this is that if anything changes (air filter getting clogged for instance) the mixture will change. A better option would be to weld a boss into the exhaust downpipe so you can fit a lambda sensor and use that to drive a closed loop LPG system.

How about a BLOS carb instead of a plate mixer? - Its going to need flashlube as well if it hasn't already had hardened valve seats fitted for unleaded.

Personally I think the Blos carbs are over-rated, they work but not as well as claimed, no better than a mixer and just add complication.
