5.9 dodge ram running issues

#1 Post by dodgeboy »

hi guys. looking for some help.
i brought a 96 ram just before easter this year. everything i wanted in 1 package including lpg. all seems well then as summer hit i got caught in a couple of traffic jams on hot days and the lpg wont run right.

so i call tinley tech who supplied the kit to the previous owner. a bigas kit btw. very helpfull and gave me some info, which was when was the lpg fillters last changed, how well was it running on petrol and the 2 into 1 filter split back out to 2 fuel rails was probably hindering performance. so with this in mind i ordered new filters and extra hose to fit the extra fuel pipe to the 2 rails. this i fitted as well as new spark plugs. it ran better but not right. due to not knowing when the petrol side was last serviced i had a local garage change the ht leads cap and rotor arm. again improved things but still not right.

the catlitic converter inploded on me so was not letting the exshaust gasses out, this was taken off gutted and put back on with the sensors still connected to the cat. by this time it was popping and banging out of the exshust. i remeberd that there was a scanner for the truck given to me when i brought the truck. so connect it up and 9 fault codes come up. 1st is for multiple missfires then the other 8 for each cylinder missfiring.

i then clear the codes and run the truck, this time i lost the popping and banging, again running better but not right. on petrol no codes re appear on the scanner. on lpg it comes back as cylinders 2,7 are missfiring. as well as this when on tick over it gets really grumpy on gas.

really sorry for the essay but trying to get everything down. i have got some discs for the bigas kit but cant get it to work on the laptop. any advise would be appreciated. thanks jason.

ps on surrey hampshire border if anyone could look at it.

sounds like possible injector issues, try swapping them over and if the fault moves with them then chances are there is a problem with the 2 injectors.

Thanks. Also I have a separate feed from the vapouriser to each bank of injectors. Tho I don't think this is to do with the issues I've had. Should I be putting a balance pipe in?
I know this will come out as being stupid but is the fuel rail separate to the injectors?

I don't think the problem you are having will relate to how the injectors are installed as it had run correctly before.

As cylinder 2 is misfiring then look at that one first. Take the pipe off cylinder 2 and move that to cylinder 1 and the move the pipe from cylinder 1 to cylinder 2. Do the same with the wiring plugs onto the injectors.

If the misfire moves to cylinder one you now know the injector is at fault. If the misfire stays on cylinder 2 you can then look at other things.

hi guys. i have repluged the truck diagnostics in. it is now not showing any faults.
after this i got the bigas diagnostics loaded on the lap top. which i have now pluged into the lpg.
its all in italian, i have got the diagnostics up and not showing any fault codes? is there anything special way of getting fault codes up? when i had it up the dash board feature lambada sensor 2 stays at 2.2 ish volts where as the other lambada sensor is going up and down around .50 to .73 ish. this is sat on the drive ticking over then reving to 2k rpm. does this sound right or has the lambada sensor gone down?
