Help Required Please ???

First off thanks for looking at this message,

I am total new to the LPG scene and don't have a clue what to look for and what I need to avoid.

I am looking at fitting a LPG kit to my wifes 2004 Honda Civic 2.0 160 Bhp Type S.

I have been in the motor trade for over 16 years but only on the body work side of things but I do my own servicing and mechanical repairs and have decided to look at fitting an LPG system myself. I would be greatful if any one can give any advice on what problems there are, if any to fitting LPG to the engine of my wifes car and some advice on which make and type of system to go for.

I have just been made redundent so I am looking at keeping the cost down to a minimum, but not at the expence of fitting rubbish which I wil regret latter.

Also the tank will need to be in the spare wheel well.

They need a flashlube. A good quality kit available from tinley tech would be a bigas system. They also have a budget system i am told, made up of a king ecu, valtek injectors and an omvl reducer. Tech support is very good from them. And if its your first go then maybe thats worth the extra couple of quid. You kind of get what you pay for at the end of the day. There are cheaper suppliers out there. But the kits are a bit bare, with TT you get all the bits you need to actually install the system. Scratching around trying to find the right bits when you dont know what they are called even can be a bit of a headache. And if you have any questions then they will help. A lot of other suppliers in the uk never get back to you. So pick the supplier carefully.

Hi, as some one like yourself who wanted to give a diy install serious consideration; I can only agree with Tubbs. if you know your way around the engine and bodywork of a car and listen to what advice is available, then a diy LPG install should be not too difficult.
I used the cheap and cheerful approach using an ESGI-2 system, but was happy to continue knowing little support was available from the supplier? from what I can see on the forum the cost of a full system- including tank filler etc from tinleytech is not far short of the price some of the installers on the forum charge for a full install?
I would look at whether you have enough time etc to carry out the conversion and possibly look at whether the difference is worth the hassle?

It is a very good point. I, for example only charge £1075 plus £120 for a multipoint, electronic flashlube system. So whats that £1195 all in ? Its not very much really. But again if you want to have a go at it then just get stuck in. I started out as D.I.Y, and now i have been a proffesional installer for 16 years. So there you are. And i wish stuff like this forum existed then. Mind you we where still running copies of windows 95 back then, and a laptop was a massive investment and the Leonardo was proper cutting edge stuff !
