Necam gsi ford focus changeover problem. fault 66.

A good friend of mine has just bought a 2001 Ford Focus 1.6 16v zetec with a Necam Gsi lpg system fitted. I'm not sure if its a factory fitted kit or aftermarket as I have no history on it.

The lpg wasn't working when he bought it, but has asked me to have a quick look to see if its easily fixed.

when you start up (and its up to temperature) the changeover sequence starts and the tank solonoid clicks and opens, seconds later the front solonoid clicks and opens, but then after a few seconds of trying to swich over it either stalls or switches back to petrol. Gas is getting to the filter/rail. But as soon as it stalls the solonoids shut off so there is only a bit in there.

I have inspected all the pipes and there are no splits or leaks. I have tried it with the filter in and removed. And I have wiggled and disconnected and reconnected all the plugs of the system. But with no change.

it runs faultlessly on petrol but just wont switch over to lpg.

I have flashed the codes and it comes up with code 66. But I cant find anywhere that says what the codes actually are.

any help much appricated.

but no code 66 listed. In fact, there are no codes at all with a 6 in them. Recheck your results?

Gas is getting to the filter/rail. But as soon as it stalls the solonoids shut off so there is only a bit in there.

Rail should always be at full pressure, even overnight. Can leak down through split diaphragm or leaky/gummed injectors.

Thanks for the reply. I have indeed been googling for hours for necam fault codes, necam lpg, fault 66, lpg fault codes etc etc, and found nothing. And I have indeed found that page in my first 5mins. But unfortunately that doesnt give me what I need hence starting this thread. I have double checked many times. It gives 1-2---6-6---1-2---6-6---1-2---6-6---1-2---6-6 over and over.

I would be checking the vacuum pipes for damage and connection issues especially to the vap. and MAP sensor if you have one.

Can you check for codes on the petrol ECU?

It doesnt appear to have a separate map sensor, like my omvl setup does, it just takes one vacuum from the inlet straight to the evaporator. I have checked for vacuum leaks. And there is a noticeable change when I take the vacuum pipe off the evaperaror, revs rise etc, and goes back to normal when the pipe is replaced. This would suggest there are not leaking vacuums.

I have plugged a scanner in to the car and no faults were found, and there are no fault lights showing.
