range rover p38 rpm ref

I'm fitting an ovlm multipoint system but having difficulty finding which wire to connect to for the rpm ref. My cars a 1998 4.0se. I've looked through the rave disc but still can't find it! Can anyone help?? Thanks

How old is the omvl system ? If its new then you can just update the firmware and not connect it. Other than that you can take everything off the ecu. Including crank sensor for the rpm signal. Or any coil feed, just have a look at the pin data.

I can't remeber off teh top of my head as it has been a long time since I lasted connected the RPM wire on this but pretty sure it is a grey wire going to one of the middle plugs at the ECU. I could well be worng on that.

I take it the ECU is a old one then if you need to connect the RPM wire or have you missed the part in the manual about not needed to connect it?

Ah I've been beaten to it. No need to update the firmware but still make sure you are running the latest version for your ECU type.

Is it rosko or classic swede that's supplied you the kit certainly isn't me because I don't sell kits. You should keep hassling them with loads of questions anyway they love it ! That's why they supply kits ! Goes with the territory.

Our kits for P38 came with fully illustrated wire-to-here instructions
Folk won't pay for that though, prefer a cheaper box o bits and muddle through

Can't fault the service I've got from classic swede at all and I've already recommended him to a few people. Good kit,good price and and excellent service. Just didn't want to pester him more than I needed to.
