setup & calibration of stag300 on rangerover V8

#1 Post by mallorr »

Hi All,
Having a problem with now power after autocalibration of STAG300!

Story so far:
I had to replace the original fitted injector rails ( IG1 APACHE ) for (Valtek ) as it was diagnosed that this was the cause of not idoling.
Both rails fitted and auto calibration run and runs smooth at idol but at end of calibration stated that nozzles are to big adjust on road?
Took car for MOT today and on way to garage car would not pull on gas, petrol no problem.

Does this mean that calibration should be run while driving? or Is there adjustments to be made on the move.

I can get on line help while at home via internet but wont have this help on the move, well not easilly.

Any help from the team in this forum.

Thanks

Sounds like the map needs adjusting. Have you collected the points yet?

Hi, Collected the points?

This is sounding helpful and its something that i looked at.
I can see dots in a line up the graph on the left hand side.
A yellow line runs the length of the graph with some dots on it?

I will assume i need to align points at speeds?

Malc.

The basics of it is that you let the ECU gather points on both fuel. You can then select "calculate" or something like that and the ECU will autmaticaly adjust the line. You will need to do this a few times.

mallorr take a few pictures of the acsynchro, or "print screen" and paste it here. This makes it much easier to find the cause :D

It is clear to see that the calibration line is way off. Points at 10 and 11ms are dropping off way to fast and need raising up. The line is also very high up suggesting that the injector nozzles are probably on the small side.

Could do with images of the other screens

Clearly you don't know what're you doing.I think you should read a manual (or link i've posted for you) couple of times. What you've done is match multiplier to you gas map... You need match gas map to petrol map using multiplier dots.Pressure way to big, drop it to 1.2 and see what happen.

Hi, pictures are of poor quality but you can see something :D

http://www.ac.com.pl/en/doc/346/instruc ... nd-manuals - Here you will find the new software /update software and Firmware/

Reduce the gas pressure of about 1.3 and slowly drill the larger diameter nozzles the orange line starts about 1 to 1.6

check the temperature of the gas and the regulator on a cold engine /should be the same/

I'm not sure you selected the correct injectors...? /I do not see well/

Good luck

Hi all,

To the question, You dont know what you are doing, TRUE! thats why i am asking the questions. I found that quite derogatory!

How do you reduce the gas pressure to 1.2 - 1.3? at the tank or at the reducer?

I should be setting the orange line on the blue petrol lne? yes or no?

The injector rails have just been replaced due to the older ones being faulty. replaced with reltek. I think i know what you mean by wrong selected injectors.. :)

When you are talking of nozzle size is that where the pipes fit the outlets on the gas rails or the ones fitted into the manifold?

Please forgive the pictures, that was something else i did not know about, how to post them.

All help is gratful, Thanks

as you can see it is not easy to properly calibrate the system :( I suggest you read the instructions which more or less show you what I should do... you can find it on the acgassynchro or downloaded from the manufacturer's website :D

How do you reduce the gas pressure to 1.2 - 1.3? at the tank or at the reducer? - at the regulator

I should be setting the orange line on the blue petrol lne? yes or no? - This is the most important line in the controller and not allowed to play with it !! - examples in the manual for information

Please read the instructions and you will find the answer to most questions. :D

It's all very well telling the OP to read the manual but as I see it an understanding of what is happening is needed. My experience with multipoint systems is limited (I'm a single point man) but I know how they work and what has to be set. If I was confronted with the screen that we are seeing dumps of, I wouldn't know what it means and what needs to be done. I'd need somebody to explain what I am supposed to do and the effect of each change.

What I do know is that if the injectors have been changed for a different type, the software needs to be told what type they are. If they are new injectors, they will almost certainly have come with default sized nozzles in them which will need to be drilled out to the correct size. This is the nozzles on the injectors themselves, not the nipples in the manifold. What that size is though is a different matter. They may need to be drilled out to the same size as the ones in the old injectors but, as the injectors themselves are different, it may be that they need to be a different size one way or another.

Hi, Thank you for your first coment.

The injectors i have were sold as direct replacements.

What if i fit the old nozzles to the new block which were the right size, Might that work?

I do need someone to explain everything step by step and what i might have to do. Not just read the manual!

I am going to have another look at weekend with more time to hand.

Another question, How do i calibrate the LPG fuel gauge as it is reading full all the time?

That does not mean that the system will not need recalibrating. The company who sold you the injectors should have told you that

again... read manual, it doesn't hurt...
You'll never get it going if you won't read manual, even if everybody on this forum guide you with best advice, you need to understand basic principles of LPG conversion and most of manuals covers it.
Good luck.

Hi All,
Right lets see if this makes sence of what i have read! :?

First do auto cal.
I need to let ECU find a petrol line under several load conditions.
Then i need to let ECU attempt to find the gas line under same load conditions.

Now i look at map and will see a blue (petrol) and green (gas) curves. there will be the orange multiplier alond the middle, ish of trace.

Now i need to match green to blue using the dots and adding some if needed.

If green is above blue i locate a dot on one of the vertical line and reduce the timing slightly. doing this for majority of trace,
If green is below blue i locate a dot on one of the vertical line and increase the timing slighly. doing this for majority of trace,

Then back on same run for ECU to adjust.

Keep going round above loop untill best match of green on blue is obtained.

Is that a fair jist of the matter?
