After having my 1.8 Vauxhall Zafira converted a week ago I am also making an effort to drive more economically. (Low revs,,keep to speed limit, slowing down earlier etc)
Does this Eco friendly driving make the same difference with LPG as it does for petrol or diesel or is it fruitless?
A friend of mine who has a diesel says they have erected speed cameras all along his usual route to work and he is know driving slower and overtaking less. The trip computer on his Skoda Octavia has for months read 48mpg, since the speed cameras have been erected it now reads 58mpg what a difference.
Eco-driving
in my experience , a slight easing of speed seems to make a big difference in economy
just came back across the centre of spain , a route I know well ; at my usual non motorway speed of 90K I get about 350Km on a tank full , which always just got me to the next gas pump ; HOWEVER , this pump has now shut down due to lack of custom , so I decided to drive for economy ....80K and used the highest possible gear on the grades , which meant dropping down to 70 , even 60 on occasion
result ? at 450Km there was still enough gas to ease down the hills !!!!
at 55cents /litre and 7Km /litre not too bad for a 2.7 tonne motor home ..6p/Km or so ; just don't asked how much it used on the climb up to madrid from mojacar which goes above 1200 metres ....into the teeth of a gale ...at a guess 5Km/litre!!!
