Romano Sequential Removal

#1 Post by s80wkr »

I want to satisfy myself that the gas is having no effect on my continuing stalling problems when running on petrol

Is it a big job to disconnect the wiring from the car as see how the car runs when it is not wired into the gas system at all then reconnect the wiring once I have got the car running again

I was told it was likely to be a problem with the signal from the throttle to the ecu

Could bad wiring affect this?

I was told by one installer that the wiring was not good and could affect the ECU signals, is there any way to prevent this, cable shielding etc?

Which Romano system have you got? RiS or RiS 'N'?

Regards

Steve

www.go-lpg.co.uk

Steve, they are the fast injectors so I assume it is RiS 'N'

Should be marked on the ECU.

If 'N' (you are probably correct) the all you need to do is pull the fuse first off. Depends how far you want to go with this. The petrol injector wiring would be much harder to remove, especially if hard wired but in truth they are just 'looped through' at the ECU. This would be much easier to do if plugs have been used, simply disconnect the by-pass wiring and fit the original petrol injector plugs where they were before conversion.

Finally, if Lambda (oxygen) sensor wiring has been connected then you'd need to cut and rejoin as per original.

Regards

Steve

www.go-lpg.co.uk

Thanks Steve,

The area giving me concern is anything to do with the TPS

What wiring is there from the gas system affecting this area?

I have noticed that when on gas and not completely up to engine temp sometimes I can press the accelerator and the revs do not rise at all switch to petrol and the rise straight away

There is wiring cut into one of the coil packs on one side not sure if has been done on the other, a list of what is connected to where would be helpful.

I assume I could leave the injector wiring and just disconnect the other

Thanks

If you have an 'N' system there is no wiring to the TPS. An RPM reference wire (Brown) will be connected to one coil only. Cut and insulate to disconnect it.

You would only have to disconnect original petrol injector plugs and reconnect them as per original. There may be a Red/White wire connectd to the +VE side of the injector wiring if the looms used are hard wired, having no plugs.

Your problem gives an inpression of Air Mass metering / Unmetered Air being the cause, not the gas system. However, it will do no harm to rule it out as a cause as long as all is reconnected properly afterward.

Regards

Steve

www.go-lpg.co.uk
