Crikey, we are still on 46.9 and that is cheap. Wonder why when Petrol and Diesel are coming down LPG remains the same.

If you consider autogas at GT Gas in Stoke @ 35.9p/l and deduct the additive which is worth about 2p/litre the gas is really good value, I don't like the word cheap as our gas is the best in UK, but it is exceptional value.

35.9p is the same as I am paying for bulk deliveries to my home tank. I have noticed that a couple of the local BP garages have knocked a penny or two off lately, but they are still much more than all the others. I did a trip up the M6 last week and found a BP at Knutsford selling at 49.9p, and another independent close to that selling at 54.9p. As LPG users we are probably more cost conscious than other motorists. We should make a point of never buying from the most expensive outlets in our areas (usually BP). On the occasions when we don't have a choice we should make a point of just buying a small amount - enough to take us to somewhere cheaper - and we should point this out each time to the garage staff. These companies shouldn't be allowed to get away with charging much higher margins on LPG than petrol and diesel. It's up to us to change it.

34.9 at Jet Maddiston near Falkirk, which I can go via on my daily commute. Nearest place to home is 47.9, if needed I will go in there and just put in a enough to tide me over until the next trip to work.

Dear Ian GT Gas in Stoke are a small company, as with all small businesses it is hard to compete with the major companies, but remember when the little men are gone you will pay dearly for your fuel. Incidentally if you are paying 35.9 for bulk if you apply 4.5p duty then 17.5% VAT and a bit of profit for the trouble that makes it quite expensive, presumably you are using it on heating? Hi Mike, not using it for heating just running the car. It's the big companies BP & Shell that are charging 47.9, one 10 miles from home the other 17 miles. I pass one right on the road that I travel daily to work but take a short detour off the motorway to the Jet station at 34.9. I cannot see many people paying over a third more in price for fuel where there is a choice. I am all for using smaller business providing service, quality and price are not too far off the mark.

Hi Mike Yes, that is the price at the pump. I am just a normal consumer, not buying in bulk just filling the car tank usually between 30 and 40 litres.

It's me who's buying in bulk. It's actually 35.8p including duty and VAT. My nearest retailer is 45.9p (Shell), although there is another on my daily commute (50 miles away, a Tesco) at 42.9p. I'm only saving a few pence per litre, but it's also worth it for the extra convenience. To be truthful, when I bought the tank I expected to be able to get gas cheaper than that, and was disappointed that there were so few suppliers I could use. Sadly the big boys (Calor and FloGas) seem to be buying up a lot of the small independents, I expect the time will come when they have a duopoly and will be able to charge what they like. There seem to be very noticeable regional price variations for retail LPG, and the same seems to be true for bulk LPG too.
