Hi everyone.

Land Rover Discovery, 3.9, V8. 1995
OMVL R90E vaporizer (leaking at the moment, new one on the way).
I have upgraded my LPG set up on my car, by adding an AEB Leonardo system, with extra Lambda sensor.
I have had play via the software on its running well, but, I have a few questions.
The RPM displayed via the lap top is not what the car RPM guage says. At tick over car says 600RPM, lap top 700RPM, 3000 on car = 4000 on lap top.

Why?, and which one is wrong?

Richard.

probably set for 6 cylinders, in the LEO setup

What is your rev counter indicating at 60mph in top gear? it should be around 2200rpm. One thing to consider is that the rev counter is fed from the alternator, if it has been replaced with one with a slightly different pulley size, there's your answer. Try it at 60mph and see what revs its indicating.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Peter - no I checked, definitely set for 8 cyl.

Brian - I didn't know that, it has had a replacement alternator, from a scrap yard I think because it has 3.9 written on it in white marker.
Are the alternators different or only the pulley?
What size should the pulley be?

With thanks
Richard.

Richard, the pulleys are probably interchangeable. Your rev counter is under-reading, so your alternator needs a pulley that is slightly smaller. Don't lose too much sleep over the readings at idle, the rev counters aren't all that accurate. It's also possible that the rev counter is faulty anyway.....?

Hi

Checked today, 60MPH = 2200 on the lap top, 1750 or so on the REV counter.
Does anyone know what size the pulley should be?

Richard.

Hi

Its multi V type.
I assume they are measured at the top of the Vs?

Richard.

Just measure across the outer face, over the large outermost rib/edge. Next time I've a 3.9 in the workshop I'll measure it and let you know. if the measurements tie up, then it's looking like a rev-counter fault. I delivered one back to a regular customer the other day, and it was reading 2000rpm at 60mph, so obviously some issue there as well!

Hi

My pully is 70mm on the outer rim.

Anyone know hat size it should be?

Richard.
