Selling from a home installation
Has anyone any thoughts and know of any pitfalls, gotchas, problems in getting a LPG bulk tank installed at home and selling the gas. Do you need a resellers licence? Can you get round this by creating a private members club?

Calor have suggested that I would need to use enough fuel for 100,000 miles to break even over a year. I do 20,000 at the moment so I would in theory need 5 other people to break even.

try countrywide farmers they do a key account setup and you don't have to take payments as its all done electronicly might well be worth looking into as it is a self service set up!

I like the thinking. I know prices in a lot of areas have gone a bit daft. I'm considering getting in a tank and pump as we do a combined 100,000 miles a year between 3 cars.

Mike

I would LOVE to be able to do this too.

Where I am, the nearest station to the West is 9 miles, 13 miles to the East and 17 to the North. There is no South- less than 1/2 mile and you'd be in the sea.

I have looked at doing this at home as well, but it came to a grinding halt as soon as I found the minimum distances around the tank that would be needed. It wouldn't go in either the front or the back gardens.

Steve from GO-LPG posted about a skid mounted tank and pump that would have had an 18 month payback time for me alone. Some weeks I can go through 300 litres on my own and never less than 80. I really wanted it except it wouldn't go in the garden. We hire a lock-up garage but it couldn't go there either as there is a limitation for insurance purposes for things like that.

I was thinking of a non-profit members club that would pay for the standing charges and setup fees and then have access via keycard to a secured location to fill up with a monthly bill for the amount of LPG used.

Bro

I contacted flogas and they would not entertain a home installation.

I'm trying to contact people at the moment, does anyone know where might entertain the idea?

i tried calor and flogas, calor wanted silly money for the tank and subsequent fuel, flogas seemed keen and quoted me a very good ppl rate and cheap set up.I wouldn't mention the fact your intending to sell it on though.I told them we had a fleet of 5 cars covering 120k a year which wasn't a lie, they seemed perfectly happy to deal with me.
