Recently came back from a 1500+mile trip in western France. I took three different lists of French LPG sites with me, but found them to be hopelessly out of date - there were far more stations around than shown on the lists and I had no difficulty in finding one when needed.

There appears to be very few,or hard to find LPG stations near or on the autoroutes around Calais.I would suggest filling up at the Shell Dover Service Station, CT17 9EE on the A20, its on the left about 3 traffic islands before you enter the docks for the ferry,its entrance is immediatly after an island. Last year we drove the entire route to South of France (St.Tropez)via A26,A31,A7,A8 autoroutes,found 4 out of 5 service areas sold GPL. The A16 towards Rouen appears to have less outlets selling GPL. BOTH routes in Calais area lack LPG (GPL) outlets. The French also give you very good advance information of the distance to next and other service stations ,the clearly visable boards on the side of the motorways display what fuel they sell and its price,wish they did that over here. John. Thanks for that information,I shall bear that station in mind when next visiting France in June.I have visited a station in the centre of Calais, however at the time I was NOT towing my 8 mtr caravan which can be a problem hence my requirement if possible to know exactly where the LPG stations are, once at a site with the caravan off it is easy to potter about looking for them for future use. I only knew last year I ran out of LPG whilst driving down the A16 on route to Rouen hence my tip to fill up in Dover.
