Rodent (Squirrel?) eaten Flashlube bottle!?

Something, I presume a squirrel has chewed the top off my under bonnet flash lube bottle and some of the top of the flash lube bottle too.

I am wondering why; any ideas or suggestions why and how the animal could be discouraged from returning?

I am guessing there could be something in the Flashlube that is attractive to eat, maybe fish oils (I understand that WD40 contain fish oils).

I have Googled how to keep rodents from your engine and one suggestion is garlic ( I find this seems to work on garden pots) , so I'm getting a fine mesh bag and putting some garlic 'salt' into it and putting it in the engine bay - I hope it doesn't stink when driving.

Advice would be appreciated, please

Lastly what is the bottle and vacuum dispenser called, I could not find one listed on LPG AutoSupplies.

Squirrels are good to blame if any nuts go missing, rats will chew anything lol. Anything can be something random including plastic bottles and wiring, there doesn''t need to be anything tasty in the bottle.

Was this vehicle parked up unused for some time or in regular use? Any critters in the engine bay will probably learn to stay clear if the engine regularly gets up temp or the thing they're on takes them for an unexpected ride.

I just looked on LPGautosupplies website, searched for Flashlube, the 3 main types of lube bottle seem to be available. We'd normally refer to the parts you're after as the lube bottle but if you're buying the bottle you might as well buy the complete kit.

Yes, rodents hate garlic, other alternatives to this are pepper mint, coffee, thyme, chilli powder and cinnamon which aren't too bad smell wise compared to garlic. As for coffee, any used remains on the filter would do.

The most effective method is a help from a feline friend - i.e. cat. I deliberately give treats to my next door neighbour's cat so that it patrols my garden and any offending rodents are dealt with. No rodents for many years but in early days one rodent got away between the fence to my other next door but the jack russell there took care of it and peace restored immediately.
