Flo gas woes again

Getting shafted with a lack of gas deliveries to forecourts again, nothing locally for 3 weeks now local stations say the supplier doesn't even bother answering the phone but i've emailed and they say its deliveries as normal.

If I purely theoretically wanted to run an upside down bottle or could borrow a fork lift bottle for use in an off road vehicle what parts would I need - could it be left set up on a T but isolated when a bottle is not connected?

Alternatively if anybody knows of anyone with there own tank around west sussex/ surrey

I still have around 10 forkilft bottles in the yard from the days when I used to be able to buy gas very cheaply in forklift bottles... for use offroad obviously, even though the gas in the system (propane) is identical to any other propane, no dies/intentifiers in propane like there is in (say) red diesel,, but to be totally sure you don't get in bother you should keep a record of any minority of bottled gas you use on the road and pay the appropriate duty on it. Be sure to pay the correct amount of duty, even though it would be very difficult for anyone to prove you were not paying enough duty.

Given the above info, if you're about to start driving 'off road' the challenge now is to source forklift bottles that works out cheaper than buying gas from an autogas pump, normally bottled gas is more expensive than buying from the pump but even in a worst case scenario it should work out cheaper than buying petrol. All those firms using forkilft bottles, and all those gas delivery drivers who know forklift drivers who control their own gas supply directly with gas delivery drivers. Sometimes forklift drivers make the mistake of returning full forklift bottles to delivery drivers.

Unfortunatley flogas are pretty hopeless - I've got one of their key accounts for the ex-countrywide pumps, and getting info out of them is like getting blood out of a stone at the best of times.

www.Filllpg.co.uk might be your best bet to locate where some might be found around you.

If you do go for using bottles you want to secure the bottle somehow just to be on the safe side (given the lack of a shutoff in the event of something happening to pull the outlet hose off the bottle).
Calor prices will probabbly make using petrol nearly the same given the current price (102.7 here at Asda vs 59.9 for gas on the pump). Flogas were somewhat better though still were not as cheap as elsewhere, was working out about 84p a litre (without taking any cylinder deposit into account). Calor works out around £1.34 a litre (based on 19kg cylinder prices, £32 from flogas, £51 from Calor).

If you can find a local supplier (example in your area is https://www.fourseasonsfuel.co.uk/ ) you might get a better price. I buy the same cylinders as above from Birmingham autogas (for use on a space heater) at £17 from them.

Thanks all, fourseasons are in range to fill but last time I checked I think their autogas was about 80ppl and its in the opposite direction to where I normally head, I spoke to them previously when I was trying to buy a house a few miles away from them re supplying me with a bulk tank for home filling.
I'll have words with the local travellers and find out where they are getting their 47kg bottles from
