Agreed won't suit everyone Scotty, but would suit a lot of people.. Having converted your (Alfa?) to LPG, you're at least in part pro LPG.. You didn't sell the Alfa and buy one a bit newer, or a diesel Alfa..

I'm massively pro LPG.

But I live in Birmingham which seems to be one of the cheapest places for LPG.
I have three LPG stations within a 1.5 miles and one of them is the second cheapest in Birmingham and the Midlands virtually.

I never sold the Alfa becasue i've put so much work in it that it would be like scrapping a part of me (This is its third engine).


I do understand what you are saying. I am always a little smug now when I fill up and know that for £20 I can do 250 miles.
Which is cheaper than My moms Clio 1.5 Dci, and brothers megane also the 1.5 dci. Ones of the cheapest cars around.
Its also almost as quick as my dad's BMW 320d (Remapped to 185bhp) that gets 42mpg.

Its a good fit for me. I love petrols. They are easier and cheaper to maintain. I can work on them i understand them.

So I am very Pro LPG. But I don't think its as good as half the petrol costs. More like save 30%-50% but you'll land somewhere in the middle.

Still for the small outlay of £500 for a kit. I will save £600 in a year.
More than a diesel.

If someone came up to you in the street and said. You give me £500 and in a year's time I will not only give you that £500 but I will give you £600 for lending it me.
I will then each year give you £1100 just to say thank you. Would you ignore them...


My only gripe is that I did not jump in sooner.
As I say i put the cost of conversion on a credit card on 0% interest free for 24months.

No brainer.
Its not like I even had to save the money.

So far I've saved...
£110 first month.

Another 4 months and I'll be in the black. There on out. Saving.

I have inlaws who live about ten minutes from the Gas Station on pershore road, so there is an upside to visiting the wifews mother, cheap Gas!

Re LPGC's idea for an ad campaign - interesting idea.
As a user ( toyed with it for years, but a diesel company car, and an ageing mgzs delayed things for longer than they should), my main issues are with cost and availability. I don't particularly want demand to go through the roof, nor would I want to see less vendors.
As someone who converted his own car, I'm glad the systems (and help) is available when needed. If this were to be removed I wouldn't bother - I'm a confirmed petrol head and DIY motorist, I build engines and modify them in my spare time, and hate diesels with a passion. ( as an aside I also believe the much touted increase in rural road accidents is down to turbo diesels, but that's another issue).
I can't speak for you pro converters, but no doubt some would welcome more business, but others might be ticking along just fine. If your a one man band how much trade do you turn away before taking a risk and manning up?
Loads of conflicting requirements, personally I suspect more users would be a good thing all round.

I think the main issue is awareness that it exists. There's also a lot of hearsay and myth.

The first time I heard about a car run on gas was about ten years ago when my dads friend ran a navara on it. My dad a fan of diesel's for many a year worked out it wasnt that cheap and could have got a diesel and it still be cheaper.

Also back then I guess the kits were not as good or as simple and safe to fit. Or even as reliable as now.

reputation is a hard thing to get back once its damaged.

Alit of people I work with dont even kniw gas exists.
