Re: Jaguar XJ6 (X300) with Stefanelli problems

After a trip down to see Gurkh at lpg-cars I can highly recommend him as a knowledgeable and friendly chap. He managed to check out the diagnostics and adjust the vapouriser so the car is finally driveable! Thanks again for your help, very impressed!

Re: GUIDE: Changing your liquid and vapour filters

:) Sorry about that, I've always approached the limit before but never hit it - I guess this is one guide too many!

Re: GUIDE: Changing your liquid and vapour filters

Unfortunately this is likely to happen at the end of the month because photobucket limits the number of views you can have (and I have done a lot of these guides for various other forums), they will be back from the beginning of next month though

Re: GUIDE: Changing your liquid and vapour filters

I can only speak for mine but having done it twice (once for each filter), it flicks straight over without a care in the world. The gas instantaneously arrived

Re: What next?

Thanks, will check out the ECU

In my experience, prolific chip sets for USB/serial comms (which are in most converters) can be difficult with older serial ports. I have some high end high speed serial cards so hopefully can get one of those to work. Thanks for the tips, I'll keep this in mind ...

Re: What next?

Many thanks indeed - I'm not sure how much I will be able to do with the software and my lack of experience but I think we'll soon see! :)

Thanks for taking the time to provide the info

Re: What next?

OK so if I understand correctly, you trim the gas injector times with the LPG ECU/software to give the correct mixture for given load/rpm etc whilst the original ECU is attempting to monitor mix as normal based on open/closed loop and lean/rich afrs. The pulse width for the gas injectors is set up ...

Re: What next?

OK so how do you match the LPG to the fuel requirements, is it normally just by 'feel'?

Re: What next?

So it pretty much rules out slosh because this happens even with a full tank

This system is 3 yrs old so hopefully that ticks off the valve too

:) So you don't do AFR tuning and knock monitoring etc normally?

Re: What next?

As usual, thank you for the good information.

I guess a lead and software is on the cards next!

Regarding tank location - it is a toroid in the spare wheel well, not sure about 'valving'?

If injector durations are wrong then it is getting to the stage where I need to find someone willing to ...

Re: What next?

Thanks, is there much I can do to check it? Can they be serviced? Can I get any old vapouriser and bolt it on?

What next?

Following on from my earlier thread (http://www.lpgforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=10959), I have an XJ6 with a Stefanelli multipoint system that trips off under load (full throttle every time, >50% throttle up hills etc). I have now changed the liquid and vapour filters and it HAS improved things ...

Re: GUIDE: Changing your liquid and vapour filters

I would have left the feed pipe alone too but the advice on here was to remove it so I did, I assume there's a logical reason for it. Please feel free to add any more tips/tricks that I don't know about!

The picture at 5/6 works for me - anyone else having trouble?

Thanks for the comments and your help in general - I've popped my results up in the original thread I started-better but not fixed yet

Re: Jaguar XJ6 (X300) with Stefanelli problems

OK so the liquid filter is changed and I am ordering a vapour one today. The housing for the vapour filter was full of brown smelly liquid (see 18a http://www.lpgforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=11008), is this normal?

I took the car out for a spin after having done the liquid filter and it was ...

GUIDE: Changing your liquid and vapour filters

Let me start by saying I am no LPG expert! This is just to help those in the same boat as me (complete LPG novices) who want to work on their cars. Hopefully some of the experienced people can answer any questions you might have about this.

Step 1 - Locate your tank, in my case it was a toroidal ...

Hmm OK, if you have any ideas then please shout up. It's a 3 year old system so would probably have done 30k+
