The recent huge drop in the prices of crude oil has resulted in many garages reducing the price of petrol to less than £1 per litre. Forecasts indicate this may well continue to fall. Whilst LPG prices have fallen in recent months, they have not fallen in line with petrol. I wonder why ?

Re lazy starting (or for some folks, not) in cold weather.

Background = VW T25 flat four fitted with an R90 and standard BLOS unit.
Running just fine and recently tuned by a reputable VW T25 LPG installer ( "Campershack" ).

At this time of year, over on the T25 owners forum, this cold weather ...

This has been discussed on and off over on the VW T25 "Wedge camper van" forum .

The general consensus seems to be that LPG does vary depending on where you buy it. Most folks reckon the stuff from Morrisons is poor, whilst the stuff from the main "proper" garages, Shell. BP and the like, is better ...

I know what you mean I am paying 71p and 40 miles away, in Stoke on Trent, I believe it is currently 39.9p. I haven't done the maths but it's a big difference on a 52Ltr tank full

Okay, so you leaned it off and the CO2 reduced. That seems appropriate. We might expect the O2 content to have gone up as well, but that isn't reported.

My only comment would be that on an 'old school' engine fitted with an 'old school' fuel system, the best method of setting it up is by 'old school' ear.....

I am generally of that opinion too. I don't own any "modern" vehicles, I own 2 x 1950's British ...

It was for that reason that I bought the closed loop upgrade kit from TT, but I found the lag on the stepper was so great that under a lot of circumstances the mixture was wildly out The idea of a lambda feedback system is that it fine tunes the mixture to keep it spot on, not that it adjusts it so ...

Lambda is calculated from other readings, not directly measured. If you do have it, then tuning in the "1.0" area is about right.

OK, I have found a local garage, the smaller out of the way "old school" type that specialises in classic vehicles. I had a word with them and they are happy for me to use their exhaust gas analyser for a small charge.

Question = could anyone tell me what (CO/CO2/HC etc) figures I should be aiming ...

Why do you need CO2 or lambda? CO and HC are the only important ones.

Over on the VW T25 forum we sometimes have a (well supported) "whip round" and everyone chucks a couple of quid into their PayPal account to pay for the hosting costs. Just a thought, esp as your site is so very useful and good :D
