KME Reducer Query
Hi there, can anyone tell me the specification of a 'KME RED - 1' reducer? I am stuggling to find what bhp it can handle and whether it is suitable for a turbo car? Other codes stamped on it are 03 FFO 1952. The central section of the unit is a gold colour with silver end plates on it and a single gas out connector. Thanks.

KME is the make, RED just stands for reducer!
There are two KME reducers commonly available, the silver and the gold. The silver is rated from 245bhp and the gold often rated up to 380bhp.
Both are suitable for turbo applications.
Both the above figures would mean using 8mm feed pipe, not 6mm.
I think the 245hp rating is a bit low and the 380hp rating too high.
Ratings are a good comparing point but the figures don't necessarily mean the vaporiser is good for an engine that develops that much power. A large V8 will make it's power be less efficiently than a small turbo engine, so the reducer will work at a higher bhp on the more efficient and smaller turbo engine - This if the turbo boost doesn't kick in too fiercely.... When boost kicks in quickly, then the reducer has to immediately supply more gas for the engine AND at the same time increase the pressure in the injector supply pipe to keep gas pressure above manifold pressure. So, sometimes bigger reducers are needed on none turbo large engines, and sometimes bigger reducers are needed on turbo small engines.. usually the first case is true.
These aren't bad reducers. Can I ask what vehicle you're considering fitting it to? What ECU will you use? Bear in mind that most ECU's have a limited choice of water temp sender types they are compatible with....
