Drove past this afternoon and there was no sign of any work or workers. It looks like they've removed the pumps, dug up the forecourt then given up and gone home.

Very Slowly. I've been past a number of times recently and, other than one day when there was a man just padlocking the gates up, I've never seen anyone there.

Its possible they are venting the tanks and monitoring levels, we have to do similar before we can work in plane fuel tanks

They're hoping, there's been no work done there in months. It wouldn't surprise me if it never re-opens. However, on a much better note I went to fill up the other day and found that the forecourt of the Kates Kabin BP on the northbound A1 just past the Peterborough services is having a refurb on the forecourt so the LPG pump is not currently available. So I gritted my teeth and went into the Peterborough A1(M) Services expected to be royally ripped off. Would you believe 72.9ppl? That must be the cheapest motorway services in the country (it's also the cheapest in Peterborough too, Flogas are still at 74ppl).

Hi all.
According to the latest info we have available, Shell Buckden should reopen, complete with the autogas LPG installation/pump, sometime next month (mid to end of the month).
I know it's of little consolation for those of you going up & down the A1 but sites supplied by us in the vacinity include Shell Thrapston (A14/A45/A605 junction), Shell Peterborough (A1M/A605 junction) and Shell Fenstanton and Shell Cambridge on the A14.
This local news article confirms an reopening date of the 16th of September; http://www.huntspost.co.uk/news/latest- ... s_1_989850

Hope this helps.

Out of interest, do they all pay the same for their supplies? I only ask because the Peterborough A1(M) services (I live a couple of miles from it) is currently at 72.9 while the Fenstanton one is at 74.9 (I drive past it every day). I've not been out towards the A14 Cambridge one recently but that was always one of the most expensive around.

Spotted this a couple of weeks ago, as they have now put a sign up saying 16th, but to be fair it hasn't bothered me too much as my mileage has been very limited of late

I went by on the 14th and it still looked like a building site. I went by again on the 17th and sure enough, it was open. Not sure what they've done though. Other than shiney new pumps, it looks just the same as it did before. LPG is 73.9 though, so still 2p a litre more than the Peterborough services on the A1(M), but 4p cheaper than the BP at Wyboston.

What is is about the southbound A1 though? There's LPG at Peterborough Services, Buckden, Wyboston, just before the Baldock services and the Shell at the Arkley Barnet roundabout (at only 71.9 too). Northbound there's naff all between Arkley Barnet and Peterborough Services.

Went past Buckden on Saturday - very much open and selling LPG at 69.9p. Drove on down A1 southbound for ten miles and it was on sale at another garage (can't remember which) at 77.9p. A further 15 miles and BP 71.9p.

The crazy world of LPG pricing

That's right, Buckden is 69.9, Wyboston BP is 77.9 and the Shell just before the Baldock turn is 71.9. I thought Buckden was the cheapest of anywhere until I called in at Flogas in Peterborough on Saturday. They are selling it at 66p! Shame they are off the beaten track and open 9-5 and Saturday mornings. Incidentally, Flogas supply the Somerfield services on the Eye roundabout to the north of Peterborough and they are selling it at 77.9 I bet they pay less than 66p to buy so quite some markup.
