Best system for Dodge Ram 5.2L V8

#1 Post by andypenn »

HI All
Been a long time since I have been on here as I sold the Range Rover I converted some years ago.

Now I have a 5.2L Dodge Ram and am again looking at fitting an LPG kit to it but as I have been out of the game for a while I need to know the kits to stay away from.

I have looked at Tinley tech and the Bigas system are they OK .

Also looked at WTV-UK and FES Autogas what do you guys think.

I am looking at the biggest tank I can fit and that looks like being a 230L tank that must be 4 hole so it fills in less time. (these are 450mm by 1571mm just fit in the load bed)

Any comments please.

Cheers all Andy.

Not done a 5.2, but done 5.7 Hemi and 5.9 using OMVL Dream 21-N (now called "Superlight") with no probs.

Hi thanks for the replies I have decided to go with Tinley Tech and have just refitted the inlet manifold after drilling for the injectors. (good job I removed the manifold as the belly pan was leaking badly and I had a layer of oil in the manifold from the valley)

Also tonight just put 100 litres into the tank for the first time, next job will be breaking into the petrol injectors to wire up the gas ECU

I am in Molesey near junc 10 M25 so Cambridge is not to far for me.

Cheers Andy.

Hi IMPCO ddefinately best as runs in snow and ice and no need to run on petrol at all (except to keep system working) I have crewcab old1984 dodge pickup pulls a 34 ftgooseneck trailer tri-axle and runs well but hotter so installed extra205 peugot fans- and fully synthetic plus slick 50 done 170,000 on lpg to date- Mike was nce when it was 38p per litre! -Mike

Hello, first off all i would like to apologize for this hijack

I'm new here so if this is not the way to go i hope the moderator will replace my post to where it belongs.

I'm in the middle of megasquirting my Range Rover Classic 3.5 V8 EFI to lpg vapour injection. Its already running fine on petrol and wasted spark.

I've bought Valtek injectors wich are 3 ohm and they will draw a awfull lot of current through the megasquirt.

Dont know wich way to go right know; so should i....
- Controle the Valtek by pulse with modulation of the megasquirt.
(in this case i have to lose the standard petrol resistorpack and pwm the petrol injectors aswell and try to find some valua to suit both types of injectors) and risk to pick up a lot of noise ?.

- Put in some low ohm inline resistors for the Valtek and still risk to fry the megasquirt ?.
- A combination of both?.
- Buy 6 ohm Bigas injectors ?

Do you guys have experience with this kind of stuff , how to controle the vapour injectors with megasquirt ?.

Bikermickeyc: Could your ecu be a solution ? (if i'm not to bold  )

Thanks, Frederik.

Don't do it then ; start a new thread of your own, this has precious little to do with selection of systems for a Dodge.

What you need to find out out is, what is the recommended approach for using MS to drive peak-and-hold type petrol injectors, and do the same for your Valteks.
