Hi,
Just changed car so now into CO2 banded Tax.
Reading on http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Ow ... /DG_172916 I find that my car in "band K alt fuel" will go up by £35 in 2010 despite the text saying the maximum increase will be £30! :x
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Think yourself lucky. Mine's £195 at the moment and it goes up to £425 in 2010. Robbing B******s.

Serves you right for having new cars. All of mine go up from £195 to £205 as they are pre 2001.

I think that's why they bought in the scrappage scheme, give you money to get rid of perfectly good, well made, cars and replace them with something made from recycled bean tins, that won't last 10 years and costs you more to tax. But I alway have been a cynic......

Have to agree with Gilbertd, our local VW garage has some absolutley cracking cars out back, all going to be scrapped.

Some people drive older, sometimes peices of junk, cars because they can't afford to buy new.
giving them 2 grand towards a new one isn't going to help.

all it will succed in doing is taking decent cars off the road.

another fine idea by the government!!

My cars are all pre-2001 and in good condition. I should be OK for some time yet!

What makes it even more laughable is that one of the other quoted advantages is that it will encourage people to buy new cars and help the motor industry. But, they seem to forget that the British motor industry is all but dead and the manufacturers that are pushing the scrappage scheme seem to be Peugeot, Kia, Proton, etc. So British Government money is being paid out to prop up the French, Korean, Malaysian car industry.....
