New Opening in Lincolnshire (A17)

Driving past the BP Garage at East Heckington on the A17 today (between Sleaford and Boston) I noticed that a new AutoGas Pump and Storage tanks were being installed at the following:

De Rodes Service Station
East Heckington
BOSTON
PE20 3QF

Note that this on the West-bound side only next to Abbey Parks Farm and not the East-bound side (confusingly also BP).

This is good news if you're travelling along the A17 which runs between Newark and King's Lynn as fuel stations themselves are few and far between let alone AutoGas outlets. It's also good to see any new AutoGas outlets coming onstream.

The bad news is that it's a BP station. This particular station has a reputation for charging over the odds anyway for all fuels compared to stations in Sleaford or Boston. Coupled with it being a BP station, I wouldn't expect to see AutoGas sell here for under 55ppl (compared to 51ppl in Boston) when it goes live. So, if you're not desperate, go via Boston and stop at the Shell Garage on Sleaford Road where it's 51ppl.

Interestingly, this looks like a "second hand" install. The tanks are clearly not new and had peeling "Jet Autogas" labels on them!

The install's finished but not live yet as there's barrier tape round the gas pump.

What I thought was interesting though was that the gas pump is a (new-looking) JET-branded pump (which would rather go with the Jet Tanks that were installed). Do BP have some sort of alliance with Jet for Autogas? I've never actually bought gas from a BP station because of their stupid prices, so maybe this is normal?

I'd guess it's a franchise, and the owner is not contractually bound to use BP Autogas. Or maybe he is, and he's sticking fingers up

He's certainly sticking his fingers up at the other suppliers in the area. Filled up today at 47.9ppl which compares to 51.9ppl in Grantham (Total) and 53.9ppl in Boston (Shell). And it's a BP Garage (albeit selling Jet AutoGas).

Not anymore it's not. They're being converted to a Jet Garage as we speak. Expalins why the gas is Jet
