Morrisons price hike

lpg is a by product of oil ; question is , why didn't the price go up earlier . because world demand is increasing [ china included apparently ] <BR>btw ,40p would be cheap in france

Don't blame Morrisons or any other gas retailer for the price increase blame Calor they have put their price up by 3p a litre about two months ago it's just taken some longer to put their prices up. I retail gas at 39.9p a litre I can't buy it as cheap as Morrissons sell it and we buy it from the same place CALOR. Calor blame the cost of diesel for the price increase saying that all LPG is transported by road, so why don't they take a leaf out of their own book and convert to LPG. dedicated LPG that is, like sainsburys have. this would make LPG even cheaper.

That's quite expensive. Are you in West Sussex as they all seem to be 41.9 in East Sussex. <BR> <BR>Still a lot cheaper than petrol. <BR> <BR>Damian

We bought bulk LPG 2 days ago and had to react quickly to the price given - It had risen in price by a penny a litre overnight and was due another rise later in the day. So not all price rises are profiteering on the part of the retailer. <BR> <BR>When the price of Oil goes up, the suppliers of other fuels like to jump on the band wagon all the way down the line, hence rises in the price of natural Gas are on the way, and doubtless Electicity will follow soon afterward. <BR> <BR>To be fair, some energy producers rely on other forms of energy, having a 'knock on' effect, i.e. an electricity generator using natural gas or Oil as the fuel. They have to pass thier increased costs on to the consumer. <BR> <BR>In any event, what we are really looking here at is a global 'realignment' of energy prices (lawyer speak for 'we are putting them all up').

at a guess , lpg to filling stations is like petrol ;ie , the big accounts are supplied direct by the producers , but smaller people are done through distributors <BR>so a texaco station can be supplied at whatever price texaco want , they can ignore the world propane prices as it is usually in house <BR>but surely morrisons have a direct account with an oil company , and their purchasing prices are based on spot prices , hence the recent price hike <BR> <BR>perhaps you are not aware that big business avoids government by so called transfer pricing ......if you don't want profit in a particular country due to the tax regime , just up the input price from your company elsewhere , and you have moved the profit ; the majors in uk habitually state that their company filling stations are not profitable !am sure this is true ....if that is the way they want it , it is easily arranged !

This evening whilst out delivering a car I was amazed at the huge queues for fuel at every forecourt I passed. <BR> <BR>Same old thing - Newspapers say 'Do Not Panic Buy' and they all go mad for it (I could never be bothered when I was using petrol, better to wait a day or two). <BR> <BR>The Petrol company people really are a marketing miracle and deserve recognition (amongst other things!) <BR> <BR>They inflate prices to their highest ever levels and somehow manange to get people to panic buy just afterward, all with a few carefully chosen and words in the right Ears. <BR> <BR>Simply amazing!

I am suprised that people are so anxious to get where they are going. If I run out of petrol (Bike) it's feet up and work from home for a few days. That would pay a bit of my CO2 debt. <BR> <BR>BTW all the stations I passed this morning (9 miles) were out of petrol. Don't hold out much for the LPG also as the supply is eratic at best in East Sussex. <BR> <BR>Damian
