We need more of these.....

Spent a couple of days down in the West Country, staying on Dartmoor and had a drive out to Lands End. I was a little concerned that I might not be able to fill up but autogas.app (and the myLPG.eu app) showed sufficient places. 4 miles from where we were staying was Trago Mills at Bovey Tracey, so convenient to fill up before setting off for home (with another fill at Corley Services on the M6 to get the rest of the way). The best place I found was Teresa and Paul LPG station, just off the A30 at Redruth. Autogas app warned me it was cash only so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a garden centre/nursery with 2 of the biggest LPG tanks I have ever seen and a very old looking pump. The guy filled for me (at £1.00 a litre) and was keen to point out that they never run out and are open 09:00 - 18:00, 7 days a week. So not a filling station but someone who has fitted a pump to a bottom feed on one of his tanks while using the other one for heating his greenhouses. I think I know why he did it as his car was a Dodge Ram pickup so will be filling that too....

But my point is, this is what we need a few more of scattered around the country. There are multiple places using LPG for heating so have a bulk tank and couple make a decent profit outside of their core business by selling some of the gas to us users.

Agreed.

I've been visiting Paul and Teresa a couple of times a year for the last few years to fill up. They intend on opening another LPG filling site a bit further North off the A30 :-)

I didn't know about Trago Mills at Bovey Tracey though.

Still cheaper than everywhere else in the area, Birmingham seems to be the only place in the country with prices appreciably lower. I'd rather not pollute my oil and cause more engine wear by running on petrol. I change my oil every 10,000 miles and it is still clean and the engine has done 320,000 miles since it was rebuilt and still runs just as well as it has always done. I attribute that to running on LPG so even if the cost savings are minimal, the overhaul costs in the long run are cheaper.
