Hi all, been a while since using a fully working LPG car. I'm now looking to replace my old p38 with another largish auto.

An estate would be OK but I'm happy to look at a newer P38.

Richard, thanks for your advice on the other forum.

Budget to £5k, either ready to go or for a pro to convert (within the £5k). Also happy to go for older, cheaper cars. So far, I have managed my own servicing (with great help from the likes of Simon, Richard, Brian and the others here).

Happy to travel within GB to collect the right vehicle.

Also need to dispose of my 99 P38 4.6 (once a replacement is sourced).

Any recommendations of dealers or forums welcome (but not the Suburu forum - Simon:))

I can probably help with disposal of the old one. A guy on the rangerovers.pub forum buys them (if the price is right), any that have decent bodywork he restores using parts from others that don't and breaks the rougher ones to sell off the parts for spares.

Don't know of any decent ones for sale at the moment but for £5k you would get an absolutely mint P38, I would have thought £2.5-3k would still get you a very tidy one. What name do you use on the other forum?

Hi Richard.
The other forum name included p38 and was signed off as Ken.
The 'no questions' scrap price was over £500. May have been £525.

I'd go with another p38, perhaps a bosch this time. But maybe something just a bit smaller (estate would be the smallest). Needs to be comfortable and automatic.

The Mot doesn't expire until December. Not desperate (yet) but keen to move on.

On this forum, am I allowed to ask you the name of your p38 friend?

Yes, His user name is Holland&Holland but real name is Phil, he's near Spalding in Lincolnshire. He will pay up to a grand for a complete car as he can get that back on the engine, gearbox and transfer case to refurbishers for them to use as core units. Then with other stuff, he can sell little odds and sods on eBay, £100 for a HEVAC, the same for a working original stereo, then there's the ECUs, door latches, trim parts, etc. If you have the space a P38 to break is easily worth £2k in parts.

I will (surely?) find it eventually, but struggling.

Other than the obvious forums, auction sites, and online magazines (auto trader, enthusiast mags) - where should I be looking?

Sadly, Amazon don't have any and no body has delivered one to my front door on a silver tray (I live in hope)
