Morrisons to stop selling LPG in December?

Just been told by a Morrisons employee that LPG at my local Morrisons (Leamington) will be discontinued in December. Anyone else aware of this? The loss of the Morrisons network of LPG pumps will be a significant blow to national availability.

Oh shit.....

Bloody MFG again, although they still sell it at their own forecourts only at 20-30p per litre more expensive than Morrisons.
Replacing LPG pumps with EV charging stations is a pathetic excuse, just imagine nobody being able to fill up with petrol or diesel because the space where the LPG used to be now has an EV parked on it for hours.

I didn't think the MFG announcement in April 2022 applied to morrisons forecourts. With lots of carparking space for supermarket shoppers available to convert to electric car charging, its not likely they need the LPG tank space. Also, why would anyone want to leave their car by the forecourt usually as far from the store as possible. The private equity owners of morrisons and MFG are only interested in profit and if they care about the environment why stop selling a fuel which is less polluting than petrol and diesel.

On the forecourts they do run, behind the scenes, MFG has a policy of sticking with supplying LPG whilst it is immediately in their financial interest to do so. There is more profit in selling a litre of LPG than there is in selling a litre of petrol... But if in order to sell a litre of LPG they have to renew a lot of old equipment then the profit at least in the short term for selling a litre of LPG could be lower than selling a litre of petrol.

So the story about morrisons discontinuing lpg came from MFG's statement to the CMA where they said they planned to phase out lpg by 2024.
I, like the CMA obviously believed this. The reality now, however, is that in many areas they have no competition and can charge what they like....currently 129.9p
This is an outrageous price increase and makes it more expensive to run a car on lpg than petrol. To all intense and purpose morrisons may just as well have stopped selling lpg as I would never buy it at that price.

It's shocking that Morrisons is discontinuing LPG, and the price hike to 129.9p is outrageous! It makes LPG less economical than petrol. Without competition, they're free to inflate prices. If they’re not competitive, it might be time to consider investing in industrial gas equipment
