Hi all, I got my car converted as a small project. Done it about this time last year. Since this time three stations, two more local
to me have all removed there LPG pumps. I live in the Croydon area and now there is nowhere to fill up. The closest to me is millennium leisure park Sainsbury’s, and that’s always out of order.
I’m trying to drive more cleaner but am unable to do so due to these closures.
Why isn’t the government doing anything about this as LPG is a much cleaner fuel to use.
Seems like a scam to me..?

Just checked filllpg.co.uk and mylpg.eu and both are showing a large number of stations in your area as temporarily out of order. During lockdown when they were selling a lot less fuel of all sorts, a lot of operators took the opportunity to get their tanks either replaced or re-certified. Unfortunately it seems the certification company was then overwhelmed with work so causing a delay with them re-opening. That coupled with a current shortage of LPG, means a lot of station don't have supply at the moment but that should sort itself out.
As for the Government not doing anything about it, is because they don't have a bloody clue, it isn't a vote winner and doesn't make them any money. The London ULEZ is a classic example. If you have an EV or something very new, there's no charge but if you have an old clunker that belches out clouds of muck you can still drive into the zone as long as you pay your money. Other countries use low emission zones as a way of keeping the air clean and not as a money making scheme. My car is registered for the French, German, Dutch and Belgian Low Emission zones and despite it being over 20 years old, as it is running on LPG, it is classed the same as a hybrid. That means I can drive into the cities whereas anyone with an older car simply isn't allowed in. Caught the first time and it's a 140 Euro fine, second time the car is seized and crushed.

The idea of raising with Sainsburys seems like a good idea - all their London stations seem to be struggling presently, though to be fair every station there appears to have issues now, so suspect its a lack of supplies coming through.
There has been a lack of stations in that area for years, since BP pulled it out of their own stations, Shell could have kept their releatively new installation at the Shell Gloster site as it had only been in a few years, but it seems they had a parting of ways with Calor and chose not to do so across the board. I'd suspect a lot of that was down to Calor asking too much money for something like recertification of tanks or similar for Shell to agree to.

Some of the problem is also that there are much fewer stations than their was 18 months ago now, so a shortage of supply will be seen quicker than it would have been previously.
