Becoming a member of this forum

I understand recent forum email issues meant people who signed up to become new members did not received confirmation emails (click on a link in the email to confirm the email address which activates the forum account).

So can people now become new forum members?

If so, will anyone who went through the sign-up process but didn't receive an email now receive an email or will they have to start the sign-up process again?

I went through and sent a reminder from the forum to all those who had signed up while the mail server was down. Should be able to join up from there.

Just had another email from someone who's tried using 5 different email addresses to signup with, he still hasn't managed to become a member.

yahoo.com, along with literally thousands of others, is on the banned emails list. Some I can see why (anything from Russia for instance but even then, LPG is common there so maybe that is unfair?) but others just seem ridiculous, banning everyone with a @live.com email? Considering so many ISP's no longer supply a POP email address, personally I think we should clear the banned list out completely and see how many dodgy applications we get. If we start getting lots of iffy applications that manage to get through the Captcha then they can always be added as required.

Yes thanks Bri, I've had another email from him this morning, he's a member now thanks to you whitelisting his email address.

Agreed. Put it another way, if I or most people I know were to try signing up today using our email addresses we wouldn't be able to because I and most people use Yahoo, Live, Hotmail, Google, etc domain email addresses and those domains are on the banned list.

The banned email list has been cleared..I'd guess by Richard

Not all of it, I un-banned any @*mail.com (as that would have picked up anyone using gmail), @aol.com, @bing.com, @hotmail.co.uk, @hotmail.com, @icloud.com, @live.com, @mac.com, @me.com, @msn.com, @outlook.com and @yahoo.com (as @yahoo.co.uk had already been un-banned).

I know @icloud.com and @mac.com are used by these strange people who insist on using a Mac, I know of at least 3 that have personalised emails in the format JoeBloggs@me.com and my work email works through @outlook.com so that should open things up reasonably well.
