Hi
My xtrail sometimes is slow in turning over on first starting
Sometimes it will not change over until the temp gauge is at normal other times it turns over within a couple of minutes and the temp gauge has not moved
Any ideas would be helpful
Thanks

Re: Slow change over
most likely the temp sensor is either faulty or badly wired, or detecting too low a temperature to switch over.
If you can locate the vaporuiser unit see if its getting warm/hot - Without knowing the type of system fitted it would be a guess that the changeover temp is set to, but its typically not higher than 40c. If its not getting warm particularly quickly then it may need the plumbing looking into (the vapouriser should be connected to the heater circuit, it could be something simple like a kinked hose causing issues or an airlock, particularly if the unit is high up in the engine bay).
Its worth checking the coolant level is correct, as if its too low (IE you have a leak somewhere) then you may not have much flowing through the vapouriser to heat it up which could cause your problems. Assuming it used to work and its suddenly stopped working as it should of course!

Re: Slow change over
Thanks for that info I thought it would probably be the temp sensor so will check the wiring first and then change sensor
Re: Slow change over
If you want more a definitive answer then finding a lead and the appropriate software to match your ecu is the way forward.
