Had my Lexus RX300 converted a few weeks ago by Simon of LPGC in South Elmsall, Yorkshire, and what an excellent job he did - well chuffed with it

Just got a bit of a query about the Flashlube (didn't want to bother you directly Simon, I know you're busy ). On our previous car, a 3.0 V6 Nissan Maxima QX, the Flashlube would drip into the sight glass once every 5 seconds until it was full (or nearly full?) and then the whole sight glass-full would be sucked into the engine.

On our RX300 though, the Flashlube drips into the sight glass once every 5 seconds, just like on the Nissan, but then it immediately disappears. The sight glass never gets even a tenth full, each drop gets sucked away immediately. Is this ok or is something amiss?

Your lube will be working properly, the glass isn't supposed to fill and it's contents are not supposed to all go into the engine at once.

But if you watch the glass while someone blips the throttle (increases manifold pressure) the glass may fill temporarily due to the reduced vacuum pull from the manifold (vacuum in glass can be similar or greater to vacuum in manifold, so fluid can temporarily flow back from the pipe into the glass). On an engine that is idling smoothly (like yours does on LPG ), wouldn't expect the glass to fill and empty. An engine that isn't idling smoothly may cause the glass to fill when manifold pressure rises and empty when manifold pressure falls, especially see this on engines that surge at idle. Can sometimes see the effect when such as AC compressor cuts in and out even if rpm stays the same.

That's brilliant Simon, thanks mate. It's currently lashing down here with lots of thunder and lightning so I'll give the 'throttle blipping' a go in the next day or two and let you know if it's not doing what you expect.

Not much should be read into whether the glass gets filled to some extent when you blip the throttle or not, your lube system would seem to be working properly anyway.

To be honest I was going to post pics on here but forgot my log-in details and just couldn't get in, so I was well chuffed when you picked up on the posting in the Lexus Owners forum and posted it on here. As you can tell, I'm now back in properly

The drips should get sucked in right away but in some cases they will build up a pool in the sight glass before getting drawn in to the manifold
