hi i vented a small amount of gas into the cabin of my cherokee and now cannot get rid opf the smell any sugestions please

Air freshener or smell neutraliser... but it won't take long to go away, especially if you leave windows open a bit.

hi simon have tried them both but it still smells have tested for leaks and cant find any you get used to it after a while but is strong when you first get in will after get a wet dog

'I vented' reads like you know you created a leak and then stopped the leak - seems this isn't what happened?

If you've got a leak it's a different matter.. Not so much a matter of getting rid of the smell but of getting rid of the leak before you blow yourself up before you can get rid of the smell... As said would expect any residual smell to go away in a short time - but it won't just be a residual smell if there is a leak! If there is a leak, smell should still go away if you don't use the gas system for a while BUT only if the electronic gas shut off valves are working properly and you haven't checked that they are... You haven't found a leak yourself but it seems likely there is one - would advise you to have it checked by an installer, at least don't use the gas system for a while and see if the smell starts to go away... This would only confirm you have a leak so might as well visit an installer?

i vented a small amount of gas through the outlet valve to make sure tank was empty also to check to see if it worked ok which it did ive tested all connections with gas leak detector fluid and nothing shows up it might not be a gas smell at all

One trick they use to get rid of a lingering smell in a car is to buy a bag of charcoal, cut it open and leave it on the back seat of the car, this will absorb the smell.
Don't use the easy light charcoal or anything that's impregnated with fluid. Normally the supermarket basic one is the best in this case.

But a bag of impregnated stuff and a match would get rid of the smell for good

There are purpose designed odour neutralising products too, tubs of special creams etc.

But LPG smell usually goes away after a short time where there's only been a bit leaked / can last for years on old reducers and pipes etc. Obviously the smell will continue if there is still a leak...

i think ive got rid of smell i cut a large apple in half and left inside seems to have worked
