I assume we have a few petrolheads on here that watch Top Gear. I know it isn't everyone's favourite but the remainder of the current series has been cancelled and Clarkson suspended by the BBC following what has been described as a fracas with a producer. Having had dealings through work with the BBC, there's quite a few people employed there that would benefit from a good slapping......

if it is true that he hit a producer (or anyone for that matter) he should be sacked on the spot, the beeb dont have a balls to do it though.

Latest news is that he 'playfully swung' at a producer over the catering when on an outdoor shoot but didn't make, or intend to make, contact. It wasn't even reported by the person he swung at but by someone else who saw it.

Just tried to sign the petition twice but both times was unable due to an error. I expect due to the server being overloaded!

Clarkson might have been due for the chop at the BBC for a while - He seems to know how to use just enough tact and just enough PC to get away with what he does.. Which is telling it how it is, so we all know what he means and with which many of us will agree... But I expect this will wind those up at the BBC who think everything broadcast should be boringly and predictably biased and totally PC.

I like to watch any program Clarkson is on and would like to see more presenters like him.

If he hit a producer and it was an accident, then it was just an accident. If he hit a producer and the producer had just called his pint a puft, then the producer was at least partly at fault for the incident, people don't generally punch out for no reason at all. The BBC isn't the armed forces so it isn't like he struck an officer, just blokes who work together... so get on with it and make more Top Gear programmes, maybe re-consider if the same happens again and it is proven that only Clarkson was at fault.

There is no excuse for hitting a work collegue, if that is what happened.

What I don't understand is why the programme has been suspended, that's like the local shop being closed after two employers have a bit of argy bargy (or is that term politically incorrect).

I haven't signed the reinstate Clarkson but would sign a reinstate topgear one.

I don't believe for a second Clarkson hit anyone. I suspect what actually was said was said in jest and I also think he jokingly aimed a punch at him but nothing more. It will be interesting to hear what really happened though!

I do wonder if it was a publicity stunt. He is resigning is contract in a few weeks, maybe he done it just to prove to BBC how much people actually want him?
I also find it very odd that it was Clarkson that initiated the investigation and stitched himself up to the BBC.

Further to my above post, I got an email confirming I'd signed the petition so it seems one of my attempts did work before the system crashed.

Do we know any more about what actually happened during the 'fracas', did he punch the producer?
