COP 11

#1 Post by steviewonder »

Does anyone know where I might be able to have a look at COP 11, without having to pay £32? I was aware there was a website but it no longer exists. Thanks :)

All respect to you tubbs for your install knowledge, but copyright is no reason to hide cop11 away. Most documets that someone have spent time compiling and want to protect from copying will be copyrighted. The real reason is the obvious one - lpga trying to protect it's monopoly.
Trying to keep it'shop closed (and protect your interests of course, which, seeing as you pay them a fair wedge is only right I guess)

I think you'll find that Tubbs isn't a member so had to buy it like anyone else. The text of it was posted up on a website a few years ago but was very rapidly taken down as soon as UKLPG found it was there. As far as I know, it hasn't been posted in a publicly accessible place since.

Nothing to do with keeping a closed shop, it's a paper book so unless someone fancies scanning it and posting it up somewhere then it's going to remain only available by buying it.

It seems strange to me that it's not freely available.

All of the HSE documents are free, and they took time for someone to write.

You also have to buy British Standards documents, price varies £20-£40, even for downloaded versions.

If it were a closed shop conspiracy, UKLPG wouldn't be offering the document at all.

Poking around HSE documents ... they charge too (£15 for a poster!). While a lot of "guides to" and "essentials of" are free to download, the big docs are not?

Was there a soecific question about CoP11? Many have been asked and freely answered in this forum before. If not covered yet, ask away ... a specific thread might help others find it ion future.

I'm pretty sure that PDF versions of all the HSE legilation is avilable for free. You do have to pay huge amounts for printed copies though.

HSE legislation is, as is all UK legislation, but EU standards have to be paid for, even if you want to download them. CoP11 brings together the requirements of European Standard BS EN 12979 : "Automotive LPG systems - Installation Requirements", European Standard BS EN 13856 : "Operational Requirements for Automotive LPG Systems" and the Construction and Use regs (which you can download) and puts these requirements into a single practical code rather than the theoretical requirements of the individual bits of legislation.
