Wanted - LPG 'upgrade' in Carlisle/Cumbria

#1 Post by nry »

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend any companies or independent installers in the Carlisle or Cumbria area? I have a 2002 Astra Z16XE with a factory fitted Koltec GSI system, and have owned this since new. The engine will be running close to 150bhp in the next month or two, and the factory LPG isn't up to scratch. Ideally it would seem sensible to keep the tank already, but suggestions on here appear to make it worthwhile replacing everything else - the vaporiser is 2.5 years old, a Necam V392 unit but again from here, they are 'old tech' :)

If possible I'd like to retain the fuel gauge being linked to the OEM dash gauge which currently reads petrol or LPG, depending which is being used, though I guess this isn't essential.

I doubt the car will end up above the 150bhp figure, though there is scope (if time and money allow) to add maybe 10-15bhp (cams and more exhaust changes) more so it would seem sensible to ensure the system can handle that if required.

The petrol ECU would be re-mapped beforehand to suit the modifications which will consist of a new custom inlet manifold, adding to the existing cat back exhaust. The engine was professionally rebuilt 43,000 miles ago (dash reads 199,500 miles), the full monty basically.

Suggestions welcome - I did have the car at a small countryside garage a few years ago, about 40 miles from Carlisle, but I'm darned if I can recall where this was!

Cheers,

Chris

Be warned. As Ross has so rightly pointed out on the other thread. It's quite a bit more work than starting from scratch. Find someone that has done this before.

It is a lot more work. Having done it with the Volvo factory fits there is a lot involved than doing a standard conversion.

It may be my initial quote of £1000 was fair, but they are a reasonable distance from me so hopefully I can find someone closer :)
