Saab..Are saab engines ok with lpg? thinking of buying 2001 9-3 allready fitted with gas no flashlube appears to run perfect,90000 miles gas fitted at 65000.

That age will be the B204 engine which is good for about 250,000 miles or over 300,000 miles on LPG. They don't need Flashlube and run on gas extremely well. The later GM engines that Saab were forced to fit do need Flashlube though. The B204 is the same engine as I had in my old 900 and that was still going strong at 270,000 when I sold it. As far as I could see, the head had never been off in it's life!
Make sure you check the usual 9-3 things though. Although very similar to the 900, they moved the cat closer to the sump which can cause the oil to overheat and gel, clogging the oil pickup strainer. Drop the sump off and give everything a good clean and only ever use fully synthetic oil. The crankcase ventilation system can also give trouble and there were some recalls for modifications. If it has a Saab service history these should have been done though.
