On the LPG register website, it has got a list of insurance companies that will not increase your premium if its on the register. http://www.drivelpg.co.uk/advice-and-in ... insurance/

How accurate is this? I got a quote with Admiral and they said it will be a £45 increase.

I would guess it was based on what companies told UKLPG a couple of years ago. Insurance companies do tell people different things and change their policies over time.

It has to be worth telling Admiral that your are going with another company who don't load for LPG, the majority do not. You could expand on that by saying you are going to press UKLPG to get them taken off the misleading list. That might produce a magical discount or waiver.

Hi,

I have just informed Admiral Insurance that my car has been converted, and they have charged me for the "MODIFICATION"
I rang back to query this after reading this post on the forum, and said that it should be free.

I was informed that Admiral Insurance DO ALWAYS charge for amending your policy once you have had your car converted to LPG.

I informed them of your website, and the DriveLPG website and the information on it, they checked and said that they always DO charge extra for ANY modification.

so it seems that some people are lucky....

Also had this from Admiral

Thank you for asking us to change the LPG - modification details on your
policy. These changes will take effect from 07/08/2012.

As a result of these changes, there would be a balance of £33.76. This amount
will be debited from the account details we hold on file within the next
twenty days.

Should your car be written off or stolen we offer market value on your car.
We will not pay for modifications unless they form part of the manufacturer's
standard specification.

so basically they are charging extra.... but not covering you.... !!!
