Changing the V5 document???

I'va had my jeep converted and it's now on the LPG database. In order to get the slight reduction in road tax, I need to change my V5.
Under "Type of fuel" do I put dual or lpg or both or what???

I took my V5 and car tax disc down to my local DVLA office they did the neccesary changes,will give you a new tax disc with amended amount.
They changed my disc to Alternative fuel car(AFC) and V5 came back with that on too.
I got a cheque back in a few weeks for £1.82!!! and when my tax renewal came through it was a tenner off the £260 VED rate.

You HAVE to go to your local DVLA office with your V5 and Tax disk if it has tax on it and fill out the forms, they will take the V5 off you and a new one will arrive in the post, you don't need to say what class it is as they do it for you.

If you have a cert then take it with you, if not take the invoice for the conversion with you, that doesn't matter if you fitted it yourself or someone registered has done it, as long as you have proof of purchase for the kit or fitting they will change the class for you.

When I went in, I said that my tax ended at the end of the month so rather than messing about refunding a couple of weeks they left it until the end of the month and I purchased a new tax disk for the next year, beginning at the end of the month.

Easy enough, although some people have said that unless it's on the register then you can't change the class etc but I had no difficulty at all.

my car is now on the register and I have a bit of paper saying its on it now
so i take that and my V5 to the DVLA office and fillout the paper work job done

You should be able to post the relevant paperwork to the DVLA, I'd never consider going to my "local" office which is half way across the country.

As an aside, I'm in the middle of swapping engines in one of my Land Rovers, so filled in the relevant bits of the V5 and sent it off. Sure enough, they wrote back insisting on me sending further documentation - none of which is available (doing it myself, so no receipt; not prepared to pay for an inspection; nothing requested from insurance company so no paperwork there). I actually looked it up, the law says I have to tell DVLA, it also says they can ask for evidence, it doesn't say I have to do anything but notify them. So since for my age of vehicle there's no tax difference, I've complied with what the law requires me to do - I might just send a copy of the MoT (which will show it tested on petrol instead of diesel) when it's next tested and see if that's good enough for them.

When I've been in a similar situation my local friendly garage has just put a statement on headed paper confirming the engine change, with the DVLA have been happy with.

I changed a car from a 1.3cdti to a 2.0 turbo petrol
but DVLA still charge it as a 1.3cdti happy days they dont know what todo

I tried to change the V5 for my Saab from petrol to LPG or dual fuel. Although I had a safety check certificate and it had been MoT'd running on LPG, they wouldn't accept it saying they would only accept a certificate or invoice from the original installer. As it was done many years ago and I've no idea who the original installer was, that was a little difficult. The woman in the DVLA office told me that it didn't matter though as I wouldn't get a discount on the road tax as it was pre 2001. The fact that the V5 was incorrect didn't seem to bother them......

No, paid cash to a fellow Landy owner. Wouldn't prove anything anyway - only that I'd bought an engine, not that I'd fitted it.

That's what I did for the last engine change, the guy at the MOT station did it for me. Might ask him when it goes in for it's MOT, but TBH there's no real reason to bother - it makes no difference to me, I've got proof I've notified them which is all the law requires, and I'm feeling rebellious at the moment

I only provided an invoice for the purchase of the LPG frontend kit, not fitted to my fiesta but they still accepted it!
