I know it's not really relevent to our situation, but I've just returned from Melbourne. LPG averages at 62.9cents per litre over there, which is about 27ppl in real money at current exchange rates!!

That's probably because you have to have a 40 foot tanker towed behind you because of the distance between fillups!

Don't know why some pump prices are so high for LPG, we have been selling our gas fo 53p per ltr during the high fuel costs , this months bulk LPG price to us has fallen from 47p to 36p per ltr. Im afraid its the retailers who hike the prices up and not the government, we belive high volume sellers pay aprox 20% less than us for their gas, good news is when our tank is refilled we can drop the price down to 44p per liter

other north wales lpg is 49.9 .but sadly over 15 miles away

Morrisons in Barrow in Furness has just dropped from 53.9 to 49.9.

interesting experience yesterday....filling up at the shell garage near yeovilton on the A303 , still at 53.9 but the only lpg in the area , I connected up , was about to press the button and the price/litre changed to 51.9 !!!!

not displeased I filled up and went into the shop to pay ; pleasant young attendant said ....price will be down to 51.9 later today sometime I understand

didn't you just change it I asked ?

oh no he said , we don't decide the prices and we don't change them ...it is all done electronically from shell's head office

no wonder it is so easy for the majors to arrange a cartel !

there may be an office of fair trading but unless the functionaries there do their job we will continue to be ripped off despite the fact that we , in reality , have VERY low taxes on lpg

words straight from the horses mouth [ our contributor from warrington] tell the truth of the matter , the majors are ripping us off , not the government !

a while back I PM'd damian suggesting a section on reasonably priced independants on or near main routes around the country [ no reply yet ]...that way we could support THEM and help ourselves at the same time ; I could add a couple alongside the M5 and M6 who have played fair during this price spike , unlike the big boys who look to have been operating at a 50% profit margin !

for a start , are you in easy distance of the M6 warrington autogas ? can those of us who travel through your patch spend our money with you ?

I would hasten to add that , as I am only an occasional visitor to the UK , I have little to gain by this but solidarity is important imho !!!

I have to agree. Independents or the distributors have to be cheaper than than the Oil Majors. A new section on reasonably-priced locations would be a boon, especially for those of us out in the sticks!

I'm not bitter so I will still help the LPG fantasists....

Morrisons , St Helens 49.9 ( it did a 7 hour stint at 48.9 so some one must have dropped a b*ll*ck )

Quite by chance, last year I came across a place near Cannock (M6 J12) - MMS Gas Power I think. Prices waaayy below the average, but not one you'd find by accident as it's about a mile up a single track dead end road !

According to this site they were at 49ppl on 22nd Sept when some places were at 60 or above I believe.[/url]

well, that was my one on the M6 simon ...was there 3 weeks ago and was down to 47p then

my suggestion would be

name
directions and distance from main route [eg exit 12 M6 go west , sign for turning to left just before filling station on right ...1 mile ]
how much cheaper than main route [ eg my visit 59.9 on main roads , 47p here hence -13p ]
hours ... 8 to 6 , mornings sat/sun

etc

perhaps regionalised

Around Plymouth, Saltash, Lanceston, Bideford and Barnstaple the lowest price I can find is 58.9p per litre (top dollar is 63.9p)- Does anyone know of a lower price for this area ?

Having read the topics I still do not comprehend why petrol has dropped by 20p per litre in the past 2 weeks and the LPG price has not budged !!(Greenaways BP garage at Launceston). It also appears to me that LPG in the South West is far higher than in the Midlands. I vote for people power and bombard "BBC Watchdog" with a request to investigate.

I definitely think we should be supporting the local independents. When I was up there today Shell Lincoln had finally dropped LPG by 3p to 52.9p but I tried two of the local independents listed in the 2008 LPG Map (Chandlers Farm Equipment and Instagas) and both said they had stopped doing AutoGas due to lack of demand

Mine still sitting at 61.9 !! Bp have a lot to answer.

I find these fuel prices so crazy. Went past my local Texaco and petrol was 94.9 and diesel 104.9. Cheapest I have seen it for ages. Coming home that evening despite reading in the news that oil prices had fallen again petrol was 96.9 and diesel 110.9. Strange world.

if you use the M5 , between junctions 22 and 23 turn onto the A 38and just north of 23 on the west side there is a small converter /MOT station /lpg seller with workshop hours only

he was down to 50p a month ago .....at the time the motorway services were at 67p and the major brands on normal roads were at 59.9

sorry , don't remember the name but for sure I bought a tankfull!

anyway if you are travelling on the M5 it probably costs you about half a mile extra to take the detour on the M5 in either direction

anyone think there isn't a cartel?

Gordy was quoted this morning as saying petrol prices would come down again "in the next few days". So how does the Prime Minister know about the pricing policies of independent companies? Because he knows they operate as an informal cartel. Plus, he wants to keep them sweet because of the massive tax revenues he gets from them. After all, think about it. Only the VAT element of Fuel prices is directly proportional to the overall cost. Excise Duty is fixed. So, that doesn't change irrespective of the price i.e. guaranteed revenue stream. And the VAT element on the rest isn't a huge amount when the price alters by 1-2p. But, that has an impact on Oil Company profits, for which they pay Corporation Tax to the Government.....See where this is going?

Still paying 36PPL from flogas for my bulk tank. Was hoping it might have gone down as that's what I've been paying for the past 8 months but no joy.

Local shell has come down to 52PPL from 59 last week.

I have been paying 48ppl at Listers in Wednesbury, as the petrol came down they announced a 2ppl rise, this is on an account. For someone just driving in and no account the price has gone from 54ppl to 56ppl. I have now switched back to petrol as it is now working out the same for me.
