Dont recommend this installer

some cars can be done in a day, I converted a vectra 2.0 of mine a few years ago, enlisted the help of another installer I knew and we got it all done on saturday. one doing the front end, the other doing the rear and then up in the air for the underneath. This was also before polypipe so was done with copper.
It was quite a long day though. I even put it in for one of my LPGA inspections and it passed with flying coulours.

quite a number of newer cars, and especially those with larger engines and less room cannot be done in a day in my opinion.

Saying that quite a number of smaller cars are difficult to get everything in.

Any of my conversions are all done by myself, and done in a day does not happen in my workshop.

I have seen an X5 that was done in a day by an installer in Wales, all I can say is if it was my car I wold have been very upset with the state my car had been left in.

i agree totally with what you say yes some cars can be done in a day but you wouldnt send it out until it had been fully tested and tuned i also work on my own to ensure that the job is done right .....just found this shining example!!!!!!!! hope no one on here recognises their own handy work another one for the bodged section

that's the kind of thing i have to look at on a weekly basis .......quality install ? i don't think so factory trained ? possibly, which factory ?possibly a biscuit maker ?...........1 day to install 3 day's to put right.........

i agree however i do know that some e-gas systems did slip through the net and where sold to DIYers & 1 DAYers when they first started selling them i think that after i showed them that 1 they had a re-think on who they sold them to......it was a v6 shogun sport.....not that you can tell any more ....can't see the car for the mess

Poor Mitsubishi ! We all see them. I had a stunner the other day. Diahatsu terios. Done by a UKLPGA installer. Man what an abortion. Just plain dangerous. The chap had enough of taking it back. It was an OMVL system. Injectors miles up the inlet manifold. You press the throttle, 10 mins later it revs up ! Maybe I'm over exaggerating. But not at the quality of installation. My favorite bit was not only all the wiring twisted together with no tape on. But the injector rail was mounted off the brake servo bolt. And the servo was loose. It was fantastic ! Should have took some pics.

I'm quite happy to tell you why. I'm just an end user who had my Grand Scenic converted by Profess Autogas in South Wales a couple of years ago. I just get ticked off with people who come on here and slag off a perfectly respectable and professional operator.
I fully understand why some of you do it. When I was looking around, the best price I could find was £1800 and that was for the 4 day job. Andy's crew did it in one day for a grand with 4 guys working more or less simultaneously using a production line method. Ever heard of it? They use it to build cars.
Now quite a few of the £1800+ 'rip-off' guys were unhappy that their little bubble had been burst and that they were forced to charge a lower price in order to compete so they decided to spread malicious rumours about quality of the fit to scare their potential customers into accepting their 'still' bloated quotes. UKLPGA even refused to licence them because they were undercutting their members.
I have never had the slightest problem with my conversion but a half hour in Andy's company whilst I was waiting for the conversion to finish convinced me that I was dealing with an honest person and that I would have immediate back up if I had any problems.
I don't drive my car to the limits so I don't know what would happen at the 'top end' nor do I care. I've always kept tight records of my fuel usage and the spreadsheet that I devised shows me that my fuel costs are around 55-60% of what it would be costing me unconverted and I'm more than happy with that.
I realise that you'll all be thinking I'm a friend of his but in truth, I only met him on that one day and have had no contact since. I also realise that some of you will be trotting out the horror stories about what has gone wrong in rebuttal.
My only regret now is that I didn't go to Gilbert instead. If only I could save 3 or 4 hundred pounds in just a few tank fulls I'd be a really happy bunny as I guess you all would! lol. I've always respected Gilberts knowledge and advice given on this forum but might I suggest that this was just a teensy weensy bit of an exaggeration

they towed that one to me and after a brief look under the bonnet (and a photo) they towed it away again so no tubbs that one didn't even sound

Rob, competition in any market place is heathy for the customer. Its customers choice at the end of the day. I feel I am very competitive, but I have the car for 4 days. But I work alone. I'm sure if there where 4 of me I could quite happily do a conversion in a day. The problems are if you run into any issues. And you need to see the car stone cold to make sure it changes over seamlessly, you can't do that in a day. I had a company with another very good converter years ago. We used to swap. One day I would fit the tank, he would fit the front end. Next day swap over. Mostly we where in the pub for 5 with the car converted to a really good standard. Personally I won't slate other converters without seeing the work first. And I've seen a few, not particularly impressed with the attention to detail. They generally turn up with problems. But I'm sure that there are loads out there with no problems at all.

I'm with you tubbs I also work on my own I have the car for 3 day's, but as with most approved installers we can only go on what we see not what we can't if installers have applied for UKLPG recognition and have been refused that can only be for one real reason and based on what I see on a weekly basis I can fully understand the reason for refusal...........maybe ROB could put some pics up I mean after all I've shown you mine............

so what you are saying is your conversions are perfect and everyone else does a sub standard job. I dare say if you took it to a couple of installers they would find something, that is just the nature of the beast.

Not what I'm saying at all... What I'm saying is that being an Approved Installer doesn't make your work good Of the "Professional" conversions I've seen, there is only 1 that I would have driven out of the workshop

Omegs'a are not difficult to do and as long as you don't put the nozzles in the top of the plenum (which i have seen so many times) they run a treat, Tanks are simple as there is plenty of room and access to be able to get everything in is good.

Yep, seen the nozzles into the plenum with or without straws If they aren't that difficult to do, how come I keep having to put them right? Mostly poor coolant plumbing to be honest. Either using the Throttle Body feed (which is barely a dribble) or teeing into the heater matrix pipes, which doesn't work unless the heater is on when the car has a Heater Bypass Valve Although I've seen many other dodgy fits.

So basically what I am saying is if you can't get an Omega looking good and running correctly then you should go back to sitting behind a desk

Perhaps there are a few registered professionals who should return to sitting behind a desk then

Just that being registered doesn't make you good As I have said before, this forum isn't the best place to get recommendations from as many people have conversions they are happy with and never find this forum when searching for a solution to an issue

when you say omegas there are many different models of them, some photos of your install would be nice to see, as tommo 2009 wrote they are not hard to get right........i dont agree with putting you behind a desk if your good at something just keep doing it the best you can.........

I'll have to dig some out. I know they aren't hard to get right, although the V6's are tight for space, but I've had to put right quite a few that have come from registered installers. I've also had to put right some from DIY installations, although not as many
