when a car petrol filter blocks ...you get rough running or stopping stalling ...you don't get ruined injectors that need replacing ...
if the LPG filter blocks and does the damage you say it does Steve ...then they need to look at the way the filter is designed ...as its not doing its job .

like i said on another post someone should design a filter system that is like what you get with compressed air ...a trap type device.

after reading all this I'm thinking of putting a "T" in my vapour line with a long bit of hose on it with a screwed plug in the end .

if you had the t in a dip in the hose ...uphill to the vap and uphill to the injectors ...then ...what do you think guys.

would this work ...i think it would be a cheap solution ...

all the best..mark

Read with interest. Underlines what I have said elsewhere.

Romano use individual injectors (£36 each brand new) which can be stripped and cleaned by the owner. No spot welds to break, no self destructing 'O' rings, no problems in putting in a repair kit (not even required, let alone not available) and no removal/replacment of a full rail to change one injector. Last but not least, no problems with imbalance or emissions if you do strip them and clean them or maybe find that elusive repair component and manage to fit it and clean out the debris.

Yes, I use OMVL's secure block multivalves as they are the quietest and the best. I use OMVL R90E vaporisers in preference to anything else when fitting inductive mixer systems.

But -

Although I'd really like to fit one vaporiser instead of two on some cars, you cannot have it all.

Romano knocks similarly priced SGi for six on this (injector design) basis alone.

The systems we fit match the best available at the price of lesser quality equipment.

Regards

Steve

<a href="

""""How different are the Romano Injectors?
Mine clatter away but I thought this was normal ?"""

no it may not be like that ...as I've found out ..

this bit of info may be of some use to you ...

my injectors were clattering away ...when i first installed the system ..
found out...
they were making the noise because there was a fault on the petrol ecu.

the fault was dirty contacts on the ecu multiplug..on the main petrol ecu ..

once i had found the fault and put it right ...they no longer clatter.

so ...from what i deduce from the above ...if your main engines electronics are not up to scratch ...the injectors will clatter ...why i don't know .perhaps it was over fuelling ...and what i was hearing was them on full song ...
perhaps you're only listening to yours when cars in warm-up mode ...perhaps they are noisier then...because they are putting more fuel in .

perhaps you have faulty lambda ...or Coolant temp sensor.

All the best...mark

An excellent & informative post by Steve (Go-LPG) & yes Steve A I am one of those poor Buggers with the older style R\injectors.......but....I have cleaned them out using Turps, I submerged them off the car in turps & switched them on by live 12v fed for about 10 mins each, I did this as opposed to on the car incase the turps damaged the Cats.
Well there is a vast improvement Once its warmed ,still on initial change over its runs like a dog but now does recover sooner.
I am deciding whether to buy 8 of the newer design injectors instead of replacing the vapouriser for a OMVL single as when its warmed up it runs very well ,but £288 is a lot of money & goes against the grain .......
I think I'll have to do it as I have renewed so much on this car ,if I sold it I would'nt get anywhere near what I've paid out & the "new" owner would have a bargain of the year whereas I could buy something else & start off all over again!!??

Is it sometimes the same installers who are having repeated problems with injectors, regardless of manufacturer?

Leighton,

I don't know, but I can rely on facts for all of the conversions we have done.

To be fair (of my own installs) I have only had to change 4 complete 4 cylinder rails of injectors fitted to only 2 cars in the last 3 yrs.

In the same spirit of fairness I have not had to swap a single Romano injector on any car.

Once only (last year) did I have to remove and clean a single later type Romano injector which was sticking open. A piece of debris (rubber) was the cause. This could well have come from installation and was not a fault with the injector per se. It took me about 10 mins to fix and the owner could have done it himself, and likely will if it happens again.

When the new Romano injectors were released I bought an extra one to keep in the drawer, just in case, and maybe to substitute for others if I have to go fault finding. It should be noted that the 'size' of the Romano injector is determined only by a simple screw in nozzle at the end, an easy thing to swap, making a stock of all the injector sizes unneccessary.

I have never used that injector - It gathers dust in the drawer. I intend to strip it and take pictures to put on our website ....'How to strip and clean your own Romano injectors....'

Regards

Steve

<a href="

Steve , have you used BRC multivalves before?

They are quite also, easier to install due to the fact the gas inlet swivels, and the level sensor is more accurate.
Also competitivley priced due to the 0-90 gauge comes with.

Cheers keith

Hi Mark, i am certain you can replace them ,possibly with Romano,BRC,etc
Individual injectors is the way to go for obviouse reasons.

Cheers Keith

Why are indivdual injectors the way to go? Changing one is just as much work as changing a rail.

I have used the BRC multi valves and found them to be about the worst ever with all but one not working!

Most of you seem to think OMVL have never changed the injectors at all. Well I can tell you they have over the years had a number of changes made. Speak to FES if you want the details.

Mike

i agree in the past we have used brc valves i have got a box full of scrap ones where the float has forced the "gears" for want of a better word last month i changed 4 valves on a disco where 3 had failed allowing only 1 tank to fill

Keith,

I have an open mind and will try anything at at least once. One of my pet hates is multivalves for small size toroidal tanks, the type that force us into making complex and time consuming 'S' bends in the 8mm filler pipe.

There is no excuse for this design flaw but in fairness, it is the fault of Stako and the like who make the tanks, not the multivalve designer. All that is required is a little more thought about where to site the vent hole, if a vent hole position works for a 70 litre tank it does not follow that it will be good for a 40 litre.
In ANY single hole toroidal the vent hole should be directly below the multivalve or as near as you can get it, allowing a striaght(ish) run for the pipes outward.

CS,

You missed the point completely on individual injectors. It is easier to move the fault round for confirmation if the injectors are individual(the only way you can do that is to remove both rails and switch them across) but more importantly, this:

As an installer giving warranty I have, in the past, had to pay out £338 for a pair of rails to put a system right. I have to bear the cost of them being sent to me and the cost of sending back. And then, I do not get my money back until the manufacturer has agreed they were faulty. Last time it took 3 months for me to get the refund and it only happened when I chased it up. If the injectors prove to be full of gas contamination they would shift the blame there
and I get no refund. The £338 is gone and the whole conversion has been rendered profitless.

In this way, indivdual injectors mitigate my risk to the loss of only £36, although even that doesn't happen because anyone (even me!) can strip and clean my injectors.

Continued

Moreover, when the conversion is out of warranty and any fault is chargeable, what would you prefer to tell your customer if he has an injector problem?

(a) That you have to replace a rail of 4 injectors costing (quoted from a mail above)
'circa £230+

( ' because only one injector in that rail had gone down

Or -

(b) That you had to replace only one injector costing £36 (if for some reason you could not clean it).

I know which I choose.

I rest my case.

Steve

<a href="

Hi Steve,[go lpg] i will try and email you a pic of a BRC multivalve in a 32 litre toroidal that we are going to put in my sons Saxo.

Cheers Keith.

CS [mike] Steve has explained why block or matrix injectors are not a good idea, i agree 100%.
We are in this game to earn money not get shafted by suplliers.

Keith,

OK. I have a recent pic of a 45 litre toroidal that we spent AGES on when forming the 8mm pipe.
The pipe looks like a copper snake when a flute is being played, there is no other way to do it.

The smaller toroidals really are a PITA in this respect and I hope that Stako will take note.
I don't mind a little forming of the 6mm pipe, that is simple but a little consideration of the installer with the 8mm entry would not come amiss.

I guess the latter depends on your standpoint. This is more like me explaining how I look at what is available to me in the LPG marketplace and how to obtain my main objectives by arranging things to my (and therefore my customer's) best advantage.

Those objectives are;

(1) Not to have to pay out large sums of money for warranty items even if I am going to get it back later, it messes up my books and makes a lot of work, especially if I have to remember to ring and chase a refund.

(2) To end up with as little warranty work as possible as it saves me time and money, saves the customer's travel time and money and thus helps to maintain the reputation of Go LPG and the conversion industry as a whole.

(3) To reduce customer's costs after warranty has expired if repairs later prove to be neccessary for any reason.

In the matter of injectors, their reliability and repairability (if that is a real word!) I am happy with where I am right now, and that is with individual items.

Regards

Steve

<a href="
