Does LPG prices fluctuate with Winter / Summer with people trying to win votes on gas prices at all?
Ie is it always a bit cheaper in winter than say summer due to demand?
Or will it always follow petrol / diesel prices?

it depends how cold it gets from what I've seen ( how much demand there is for it to be used for domestic heating where people are off the grid). The colder it is the more the price rises.

I know Its the one on the pershall road. Been thinking about going that way home from Birmingham south back.
Bit of a nightmare to get to mind. But if I filled up there each time I'd save an Extra £170 a year...

Yes, he told me a couple of weeks ago it would soon be under 50p. It just goes to show what can be done when there is a high demand for LPG. Someone might tell me if it's true but I was told that virtually all private hire taxis in Birmingham run LPG as the operator gets some kind of tax break from the city council, hence some local retailers shift tens of thousands of litres per week.
I just wish I had bigger tanks, I've even thought about a second boot tank to up capacity.

When I've filled up at Birmingham autogas a lot of the others there filling are taxis . So weather that's true or not I don't know. But it would provide steady demand so it would make sense.

I too have thought about this. Fitting a cylinder tank as well as my spare wheel tank (47 Litres) as range is 200-240miles.
I also have noted that the Texaco LPG Autogas I get better mpg - I think their system is better calibrated than the Birmingham Autogas ones. So when I enter figures into fuelly it appears i get better mpg.
However the cheapest Autogas one is 63.9ppl which even with an extra 4 mpg (Which i think it just calibration of the machine being more accurate) it doesn't cancel out the cheaper cost.
It would be amazing if I could some how shorten the petrol tank and replace with an LPG tank like they do with the 4x4's.
I guess you can't really fit a temporary tank that you could remove due to pressures.

It can be done and you'd need to use something like Hanson couplings (see
http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/acatalog/On ... gs_89.html) that seal when disconnected. I considered it on my Saab when I had a range of around 260 miles on the wheel well tank and was driving from one side of the EU to the other (and out the other side). I didn't need a huge amount of boot space and it would have meant I could have got a range of something like 600-700 miles by adding a decent sized cylinder tank. Difficulty would have been working out a method of securing it that would be secure but could easily be released and lifting it in and out as they aren't exactly lightweight!
You could always put a HUGE tank on a trailer and tow it behind you though.......

That is a good point Gilbert. I was surprised at how heavy a small wheel well tank was.
For the moment I can live with it. But it would be nice to get a better range with it all though.
For now I'll just take it as a bit of a con. It could be as you say worked around. But realistically once a tank is in there. Its not really coming out like unhooking something far smaller. Its just easier to find somewhere and fill up.

I'd like a hinged triple torpedo tank setup across the back seats.
Raise to the upright position, load the children in and tell them its like a rollercoaster before lowering the framework and pinning them to the seats with the tanks.
The little darlings could then be told to hug the tanks therby warming the gas and increasing the efficency whilst the heater is still warming the cold car.
Ideally they would also have a set of pedals each, powering the alternator, power steering and rear window heater. "If its too cold in here - just pedal harder". That'll make the little bug**** wear coats when we leave the house.
Had a missed call from Country Wide today - Hopefully something to do with thier account prices being 30% above Birmingham at the moment.

Excellent ideas. All I need to do is find some children.

Damn that's cheap! I haven't seen anything lower that the usual BP 69.9p prices around the South. Will be popping over to Wales in a couple weeks where I'll have to bottle some up

I had a reply to my email to bp regarding lpg. The general theme of it was to say their sales were falling and taking stations out that were becoming no longer finacially viable. Of course they might be finacally viable if they priced sensibly. The two local bp stations are at 69.9 . The nearest motorway services also bp are 64.9. One of the two shell stations locally is 62.9. Sort of illustrates the typical pricing I see with bp.

Near Cardigan the price has been 80p for years.
The price of petrol has slumped, but LPG stays the same.
Now there is only one filling station left on my daily route, in fact the only one within a 40 mile radius, they have us over a barrel.

When that happens its a shame you can't tap into your own supply at home or maybe have a large LPG tank somewhere.
Must be a right pain. I live round brum and it can still be a bit of a pain to get to places.
Guess I shouldn't moan.

You can but the problem with tapping into the mains gas supply is that is Natural Gas (predominately Methane) and not Propane so you need a car that is converted to run on CNG not LPG and a hoofing great pump to compress it. You can have an LPG tank at home and many people do that don't have mains gas (although far more, me included, have an oil tank). You'd need to specify that you need a tank with both a vapour take off for domestic use and a liquid take off for a pump to fill your car. Then you have to tell HMRC how much you use in your car and pay them the road fuel duty on that amount. Not really worth it.

Indeed noticed there are companies that do your own home pump. But given the above any financial gain is greatly outweighed by the cost of pump.
