ok i went out today, tested the coil (brown) lead and its showing 12v, looked at the tps lead and i aint 100% on this but i am sure this was supposed to be connected to the signal lead? well it was connected to a lead that showed constant 4.5v. i changed it round and adjusted the idle screw on vaporizer and so far its good..............HOWEVER now she is messing about on petrol, getting a engine management light, i am positive one of the injectors aint getting signal, if i pull lead one from the coil pack nothing happens. if i change to lpg while lead still pulled out she will change but is lumpy, reconnect lead and she is sweet, change to petrol again and back to running on 5 cylinders. thinking a possible emulator failure now.

Ideally you need to beg, borrow, steal or even buy(?) an old laptop with a serial port to set it up properly. The TPS connection performs two functions. It tells the Leo whether to use the idle or out of idle limits but if the stepper is going all the way to the top it sounds as if these have been set to the max anyway. It also deals with the shut off on the over run feature but I suspect that isn't enabled (or if it is, isn't doing anything as it is seeing a permanent 4.5V. Yes, the TPS connection needs to go to the signal lead so it sees a very low voltage at idle that rises as you give it some welly.

Dodgy emulator or grotty soldering......

i got the lpg working ok for now, petrol is not to clever but i can live with it for the time being. If it continues to work like it is for a couple of months i will live with it cause i decided to say stuff it and get an injected lpg kit. From my reading its just going to be better in the long run as my system is old and from the looks of it needs major overhaul or renewal.

Can anyone suggest a good kit thats reliable, and reasonable on my wallet? When i get around to buying the kit would anyone on here be willing to fit it? i been to local lpg specialist and he quoted me 1k and thats keeping my current pipework and tank (he will supply his own kit for this price mind). I thought quite good for whats needed but still its expensive.

From what I understand, the Jeeps run very well on a single point so you wouldn't gain a lot by fitting a multipoint. Having two Range Rovers, one with single point and a Leo, the other with a multipoint, the one thing you would notice if you changed is the increase in petrol you will use. It may only run on petrol for the first half mile when cold but that is using petrol at the time when you are using the most. I've just done 2,500 miles in a week. At the beginning of the week my fuel gauge read around a quarter full and my trip computer told me I had enough fuel for 74 miles. At the end of the week the fuel gauge still read a quarter full and my trip meter said I had enough fuel for 74 miles. Now I must have used some but such a negligible amount that the difference hasn't been registered. If you want with a Leo you can use no petrol at all and make it start on gas.

A replacement emulator will cost you around £50, £80 will buy you a replacement vaporiser and the only other thing that could wear out is the stepper and they are only £40. Getting your existing system working properly is going to cost a lot less than £1k......
