Dunno, but it isn't going to do any harm. ATF seems particularly good at alloy to steel corrosion and mixing it 50/50 with Acetone lets it penetrate more before the Acetone evaporates and leaves the ATF to do it's stuff. A mate had an engine that had been standing for 6 years, outside with no sparkplugs in it so the pistons had corroded into the bores. It had sat for 3 weeks with the bores full of diesel and that made no difference, but leaving it overnight with ATF in the bores and it freed off.

Thanks Gilbert , i used the power steering fluid for a day or two , no change, banged it face down lots and no movement , so am now tying diesel /petrol mix . i think i may have to drill in through from the other side and push it out , then tap an block the hole !

Re: turbo astra new problem oi vey ..
new experiment , running it on pwm injector control not resistors ,seems to go well, but it does lean off at the 6k and above area , tried raising gas pressure from 16 to 24 psi , made a little bit of difference , maybe my new/2nd hand zavoli zeta s reducer is bhp limited ?
Another interesting thing was the mot test . ...the idle control had gone a bit wonky and was holding it at 1500 rpm ,and on the emissions it was showing 1 to 1.2 % co but 1900 to 2100 hc !! i frantically leaned it and richened it to get the hc down ...no effect ...then thought hmmm lets look at ignition timing ,this high vacuum 1500 rpm had gone into a part of the map i don use ,and i was at 49 degrees advance ... i did and experiment ,and knocked 10 degrees off ,so down to 39 degrees ...much to my surprise emissions went immediately to ...wait for it .....wait for it.....
co 0.300
hc 155 ppm
hc would , i'm sure , have got lower with more ign changes but hey , what a change , it must have been misfiring on the higher timing ..
interesting.
regards
robert
