Hilton Autogas now down to 37ppl inc.VAT

51.9 In grimsby Railway Street

Morrisons Rogerstone near Newport South Wales 44.9 now, just a pity the others in the area are still 49.9

went to 'Oakham Tyre Company' to fill up over Christmas .... 65ppl ...

told them I'd leave it as the last time I filled up it was 44.9ppl - they immediately lowered it to 55ppl... but mentioned in passing they couldn't even buy it wholesale for what I last paid at the pump and were thinking of ditching the LPG side of their business... felt sorry for them so filled up but 10ppl makes quite a big difference when you have a 120li tank

Are they selling it as Auto LPG with all the duty paid at these midland places are are they doing a sly one and selling it as heating gas?

Oh come on; much as we know you hate LPG, and want to take pot-shots at every opportunity, do you really think a major distributor (such as Flogas) would risk having two LPG pumps, sell thousands of litres a day, and sell it as heating LPG?
Apart from anything else, most indications are heating LPG tends to retail for more than Autogas.

If you think Hilton, MMS gas power, Birmingham Autogas and Flogas (all of whom have been cheaper than anywhere else for at least a year) are selling Autogas LPG without fuel duty, why don't you shop them?

Don't you think, when revenue & customs take in the VAT & duty returns from a company called "Hilton Autogas", they'd spot it if they were claiming all gas sales (from a company with the word "Autogas" in the title) were actually all to people who turn up with their own storage cylinders, and buy heating gas?

Probably for the same reason beer is cheaper up north.....Competition, and high volumes of demand.

What's the current rate of duty then? I pay 36ppl for my bulk tank and it is set to drop this month too.

More than I thought then. It's only used a fuel for my boat though, honest!

I should perhaps point out that the 4.05p increase on 1st April 2009 is per KILOGRAM and not per Litre. Since there are 1.79 Litres in one KG of LPG, this is a 2.26p per Litre increase in Duty.

LPG is still around 45% cheaper than unleaded (and has been close to that level throughout the last year, even though unleaded has been up, then down) , and fuel consumption is around 20% higher (generally the worst case).
Overall, the cost saving is around 35%.
So, with my annual milage (around 30,000 miles), and taking unleaded at the current prices, I save around £1,400 a year (and the conversion is paid for in a little over a year).

41ppl at G.T.Gas Hanley Stoke-on-trent plus they enter you into a prizedraw everytime you fill up for £10 worth of gas. And its drawn once a week, Ive won twice so its worth going for that aswell

at my local filling station, the price has gone from 48.9ppl to 52.9ppl over night! guess who isnt getting bussiness from me anymore!!

I know of & use several up & down the country.

Calor is always cheaper than the mainstream supermarkets & forecourts.

The cheapest I can buy LPG fuel from anywhere worth while me using on route is in South Yorkshire and is here:

41.9ppl down side? There is just the one pump. This site does get busy with LPG refuels & if you get a large tanked vehicle in front of you (motorhome these take forever to fill up!) or a queue and this happens a lot (more so on a Saturday morning) as it is the cheapest LPG for miles around - you have to wait

I've found the same.
With the exception of the Calor depot in Bristol, every Calor depot I've visited has been the same price, or a little higher, than local forecourts.
This is in stark contrast to Flogas, who always seem to be the same, but often cheaper, than local forecourts.

Shell Buckden on the A1 near Huntingdon has just gone from 48.9 to 51.9!!!!!!!!!!!
