for referance, this is the wideband lambda setup I use for checking the LPG fuelling (and petrol fuelling on other modded 200SX's)

<a href="

http://www.innovatetechnology.co.uk/pro ... cPath=1

This WB02 is £400+vat, a professional tuning piece of equipment, and better than what I have seen used at any of the 2 LPGA registered installers that have worked on my car.

As yet I havent got the cables to tune my own OMVL, but I will, eventually.

I don't know the impeadence of a lambda probe and would be concerned about placing that much load on it
You are putting a 10k load on it, with this meter, if the lambda's impeadence is much higher that 1k it will affect the output too much

The lambda (90%) signal's AVERAGE is ~.5V
but it should not just sit there (unless you take the cat off?

First of I dont know if IT, is so or not....I've only the wisdom of my electronics friend to go on..and another guy said the lamda makes its own power !!!

My above idea is ment to come from a seperate lamda that you instal into the exhaust.

all the best.mark

Just played with my car
Set the mix rich, lambda steady at .8V put 10k load on it, .8v is now reading .5V

Your mate is right in that the lamda creates the voltage, but to understand the point connect 9 AAA batterys in series (13.5V) and connect a headlight bulb to it.

The long term effects of drawing power as opposed to measuring the voltage would certainly lead to damaging the lambda very fast IMHO.

PS: I think you have just demonstrated the reason why people have reservations on suppling leads etc

PS: I think you have just demonstrated the reason why people have reservations on suppling leads etc

Like I said not tried the idea out ..was going to post more in some forums to discus it before I went on the course of possibly buggering things up.

So this is what I'm doing discussing.
and not putting any of my ideas into "go" mode.
seams already I've lost your vote of confidence .just by discussing an idea.me thinks.

Ok .............so you say it isn't possible ...I'm OK on that..fair enough.
I'm not going to beat you down or insist anything.

I would never tamper with my gas by way of a computer .until I knew exactly what I was doing .......as you can see by my nature .I ask lots of questions .and keep on asking...........
when and if, I get my leads .I will not do any adjustments until I'm 100 percent confident and certain ..that what I'm doing is the right way to do it.

There is no way I'm going to burn pistons out etc.experimenting..that's for the guys who have more cash than sense ..not me.

I'm not a turbo charged race freak . I just want a smooth running engine that is economical to run..
and that's it .

all the best.mark

well..I must say sorry peter linden its been a long time since..
the calculations for the 18k resistors were done ..for that meter shown
here..
scroll down to the bottom
<a href="

http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/image ... 00e.pdf

..that does not read 0-1 it reads 0-50

now can you please have a look again .and say yes or no to it.. <IMG SRC="

And you are supposed to ignore meter readings
the meter should point strait up at the right settings for fuel.
my idea was to take the meter apart and paint rich ...good...lean on it or words to that effect or graduated colours ..or whatever

now then.......will it work
all the best.mark

Mark Sorry but no

I based the figures on the 100uA meter
As 18k X 2 = 9k + (meter = 1K2) = ~10K
.5V / 10,000 = .00005Amps or 50uA half way on a 100uA meter

Using the 50uA meter you would need one 18k resistor
18k + (meter = 1k5) = ~20K
.5V / 20,000 = .000025Amps or 25uA half way on a 50uA meter

20K load on the lambda would be still too much

If you still want to do this you need to add electronics, a simple op-amp buffer will do,
pick the amp with care ie. single supply and inputs that work from 0V

Ah well I suppose when my electronics expert mate did his calculations ..he must have been having an "off" day
and I know he doesn't know about lamda probes ...because he doesn't have much to do with cars .
still he made a good job of recalibrating these very old milliamp gauges into volt and amp gauges for my boat.

<a href="

No it would have worked fine with the 100uA meter
if the lambda could supply the power that the meter requires

I used one of those cheap digital multimeters to check lambda, and you can see it oscillating between the voltages roughly 300mV-700mV,one interesting thing though is you can see the signal disappear when on overrun (foot off accelerator downhill)so could also be used to make sure fuel shuts off

"To add to Peters point on lambda probes, they are only a correctional device to basically clean up emmissions. If you were to disconnect it or them, the vehicle would still function as norm , but with increased Co etc."

Yeah, and a serious thirt for fuel! <IMG SRC="

Sorry for being a bit picky but I hate the incorrect description it should be bi fuel not duel fuel. Dual fuel would meen you are injecting petrol and gas at the same time!!!

I stand corrected by keith, rigged up LED's on all four injectors and it does indeed fire 1&4 then 2&3,u can see this by slowing engine down when idling with the clutch, also schematic for petrol side shows only 2 outputs,1&4 are together and the other output feeds 2&3
