OMVL DREAM ECU files for Range Rover 4.6 Bosch Motronic

Hello to all.
Could someone point me in the direction for OMVL Dream files for Range Rover 4.6 Thor Bosch Motronic?
The ECU needs a refresh and I can t find were I saved the V8 files.

Hi Richmac,

Nobody can really send you files without knowing which injectors and injector nozzle sizes you have.

Even if you have the above information, you will be much better off recalibrating the system again from scratch. All P38 Rangerovers are particularly simple to calibrate, you don't need great mapping skills.

What do you mean by the ECU needs a refresh?

Hi, Thanks for your response. have been getting all sorts of fault codes on the petrol ecu.. Mixture too rich , mixture too lean , O 2 sensors etc. system finally going into closed loop. . I have finally traced it to the lpg system `upsetting' the petrol side. Have re-set the adaptive values and its running on petrol great with no fault codes. when switching to gas it ticks over ok and revs ok stationary. But when running in gear it kangaroos and runs erratic around 2000rpm. Everything seems ok when connected to the gas software temp sensors , gas pressure. changed filters and vapouriser diaphragm is ok. I have tried to connect the green wire to pin 7 (black pink) to enable self calibration but without success -- OBD socket flashing on software -so wont self calibrate yet positive I have the correct wire on pin 7. Maybe I have to connect it to the petrol ecu instead. so thought if I could get firmware update it could solve it?? needless to say its costing a fortune in petrol !!! Many thanks Rich

Has the problem always been there?

Forget about connecting to the OBD socket.

Mapping is done on road by manually adjusting the values in the boxes.

Range Rovers are very easy to map, just adding or subtracting from the full map to get correct idle injection times the rest is usually very close.

If the problem is new and it has been ok for a year or if the install is new and it has never run right we will be looking at different things in both cases

Hi, Thanks for your comment and it got me thinking it was ok yes. Replaced temp sensor thinking it was switching too quickly and upsetting the petrol trims (does that make sense?) but it made no difference. so as a test I started it on petrol and ran it up to temperature switched it over to gas and it seemed ok but stalled when I slowed down and had to re-start on petrol. Although filters are only a few months old perhaps I need to re-check them and the gas pressure ?? Run it now for 400 miles on petrol without any fault codes re-appearing. Both sets of gas injectors are new. Checked all the wiring etc. I will hook it up at the weekend again and take a few readings. Thanks Rich

Hi, Tried to attach a screen print but comment came up saying `board quota reached' . Everything seems to be ok except there isn't an option for biogoti blue injectors -- its loaded as REG FAST (?) and should revs signal be `normal' or weak ? Thanks Regards

Both sets of gas injectors are new.

Therefore you will need to remap the system. As Dai has pointed out, just running the Autocal should get you running OK on a P38, they're very undemanding in terms of tuning. Also as Dai suggested, check for gas coming out of the reducer vac connection.

Hi, It has been running ok with the new injectors-these were an exact replacement , like for like. Cant use the self cal at the moment - connected it to pin 7 as instructions which is pink/black on mine but software shows that its still not connected --defo connected to correct pin. Regards

What we mean by autocal is the OMVL self contained calibration. I wouldn't even bother messing about with the OBD hookup, there is nothing to be gained over getting the setup right to begin with.

The OBD is not supposed to be connected for autocal or initial setup. It has to calibrate without as many cars will not have OBD.

The symbol will flash because by default the OBD protocol is set to 'auto'. It flashes because it is trying to connect to the OBD but there is no connection. It will continue to flash even after autocal but autocal doesn't use the OBD connection. You can disable the flashing by setting OBD type to none. An OBD connection does not effect autocal!

It would probably be a very bad idea to connect the OBD on a P38 unless it is one of the very late models, and even on very late models it won't be much benefit and could do more harm than good. Even on very late models an OBD connection won't have any effect on autocal.

Anything eariler than the latest P38's are not fully OBD2 compatible and show really strange fuel trims like -100%... Connecting to the OBD on such a vehicle would really screw up the fueling!

Don't connect any OBD wiring, just run the autocal!

Hi Simon, Thanks very much for your response. I will try the self cal prog again -I remember not being able to get passed the 2to21/2k rpm test for some reason . but will try setting the OBD option to `none' and try again. My Range Rover is the later P38 4.6 Thor Bosch system. Regards Richard

Hi, Just had a quick look at the software last night and there isnt an option of `none' to disable the OBD. I'll run the auto cal again and see if it still hangs up on the 2 to 2500rpm section ? Thanks and best regards Richard

Hi , Thanks for everyones input . Just run through the auto calibration (and ignored the flashing OBD) function --its re-calibrated and seems to be running o.k now . Are the Blue injectors classed as `fast' and should the ignition sensor value be set to standard or weak? Just to confirm. Many thanks again for everyones comments. Best Regards Richard

The blue OMVL injectors are all FAST

12 volt coil signal is standard and 5 volt signal is weak. With the newer firmware you are better off with the RPM wire not connected.

Hi, tried your suggestion and the system doesn't function without it connected ?? I cant alter the cut in time or temp can anyone explain? cut in temp is 30deg c with a 40 sec timing. Tried it for the first time from cold this morning .The gas cut in too soon and the engine stalled ? Seems to be running a little better but the early cut in or something else flagged the fault codes up again !!?? Regards Richard
