Lpg installation training

I`m thinking of doing the training and the closest one is Tinley Tech.Has anyone had the experience and what is their Bigas equipment like?Also is any of the members on here in the position to train and issue an installers certificate?I`m not really planning to do it for living as such but could be an add on to my mechanics.Also my v70 2.4 t5 that needs a convertion one of the reasons.

The bigas system is very good. It's aeb based ecu wise so you would get a good insight into that as well. I've used Tinley tech for many years. And as you probably know they are very helpful.

Spoken to Tinley tech and they say you get an installation approved certificate after 1st installation is approved but UKLPG registration will need 3-4 day course.Any idea guys how do I get UKLPG certified afterwards?

Installers don't have to be registered with DVLA
To alter a vehicle registration, DVLA need to see some proof that conversion was carried out - an invoice for the job from a legitimate business, for example. So all you have to do there is issue an invoice that is convincing.

There are no requirements for installers to register with anyone.

Anyone can issue a certificate saying anything they like about anything they like, so long as they make no fraudulent claims. Such a certificate isn't worth the paper it is written on, unless other people recognise your authority. Forum users have printed their own certificates saying "In accordance with UKLPGA guidelines..." and so on. That's not fraudulent in itself, just a bit misleading. These self-certifies are much less likely to convince insurers than they used to be, so there may be comeback from customers.
Note that UKLPG members no longer issue paper certificates, its all done on the web.

(Off topic - Apart from the special LPG hoops, there are of of course other implications about operating as a business; tax, planning permission, liability, blah.)

In my experience the only thing the dvla want to see is an invoice. They are not interested in the UKLPGA drive register at all.

It all depends on the insurer. Some don't want to see anything, some would accept an invoice from a converter, others would expect it to be on the UKLPG register. Tinley would enter your own conversion onto the register but for any others you'd need to do the same as numerous other, non UKLPG installers do, and that is get a member to check the installation and enter it in the register.

I have recently had a couple of customers who needed a paper cert as the insurers do not recognise the UKLPG database.

I had one of them the other day as well. Reckon they have got something muddled up there. He said they needed a paper certificate of conformity for their files !

Having a clear system of inspection like the old SVA test makes more sense to me but its not going to happen.

at least I still have template for paper certs
